Greta Thunberg

So what does the future hold for Greta? And those who follow her "lead" for no compulsory attendance at school in or beyond the 9th grade?
(Sweden checks on those who don't continue their education...until the age of 20, it seems....lets see if she gets into a University to continue her education...or what she decides to do...her "tour" is basically short lived, after all....and she's got a long life ahead...even if she thinks not...)

And then there's lil Donnie Dumkopf:

"Despite the US president attesting to the fact he finished “top of his class” at Wharton business school of the University of Pennsylvania, his former professor college professor William T. Kelley had another view.

"After Kelley’s death, Frank DiPrima a close friend of Kelley revealed that the professor felt the president was a fool.

“Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that ‘Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had,'” DiPrima wrote for the Daily Kos."

He insinuates he got an MBA from the business school but that's a lie. He got an economics degree. He isn't listed as having any honors at all in the yearbook.

She's mature and insightful enough to say this: "When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know you're winning!" Thunberg wrote on Twitter and Instagram.

When a 16 y.o. goes out in public and spews the nonsense she does, she opens herself up to ridicule. As far as "nowhere left to go", why has no one posted a response to Into the Night's thoughtful explanation along with my addendum?
I seriously doubt Greta could, having skipped as many classes as she has from only h.s., much less having any inkling of thermodynamics, etc.

As a young lady with obvious and serious special needs, she'll need support for the rest of her life, so that she doesn't slip back into the severe depression, eating disorders, etc. that she once displayed... I'm not sure why so many disregard that when we're discussing our concerns about what lies ahead for her...

[18] Her demands were that the Swedish government reduce carbon emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement, and she protested by sitting outside the Riksdag every day for three weeks during school hours with the sign Skolstrejk för klimatet (school strike for the climate).[26] She also handed out leaflets that stated: "I am doing this because you adults are shitting on my future."[18]"

Did she also demand to get an explanation as to how reducing Carbon emissions in accordance with the Paris Agreement would reduce fires and hot dry summers? If not she put the cart before the horse because she really had nothing to protest.

Realistically, I don't see much of a future for her. Kinda sad, actually. Wrong crowd, bad parenting, who knows.

You and ITN suffer from confirmation bias. That being said, the way you and others attack Greta show how she has you over a barrel.

Btw I just read an article about the permafrost melting in Alaska. https://www.science101.com/orig/ala...Bomb_v1_3007&utm_content=newnext&utm_term=aol

Hmmm, I had to google "confirmation bias".
con·fir·ma·tion bi·as
noun
the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories.

What's the new evidence? Those physical Laws go back decades, centuries even.
That being said, the way you and others attack Greta show how she has you over a barrel.
If you go back an read my posts starting with the OP they are overwhelmingly sympathetic to her plight.

That's nice. I recently read an article about the college football playoff scenario.

Why do you suppose the permafrost is melting?

Did you even read where she just graduated from her secondary education with 14 "A's" and three "B's"?

I didn't think so.

Did she get As in emotional blackmail and applied Alinskyism? I am sorry you may take all this at face value but I am acutely aware that she's being manipulated by the likes of Tom Steyer, El Gordo, George Soros and a host of others.

Did you know that 20,000 years ago the Alaskan North Slope had forests and horses grazing all year round when CO2 concentration was around 190ppm?

Yet 20,000 years ago the North Slope of Alaska was forested and had horses roaming freely.

In a new study, scientists report that about 17,000 to 20,000 years ago, when CO2 levels hovered near 190 ppm, “summer temperatures were higher here [North Slope, Alaska] than they are today” (Kuzmina et al., 2019).

And in the early 20th century there was considerable melting of permafrost, it's nothing new.

The Early Twentieth-Century Warming in the Arctic—A Possible Mechanism by LENNART BENGTSSON, VLADIMIR A. SEMENOV, OLA M. JOHANNESSEN [link]. Excerpt:

The Arctic 1920–40 warming is one of the most puzzling climate anomalies of the twentieth century. Over some 15 yr the Arctic warmed by 1.78C and remained warm for more than a decade. This is a warming in the region comparable in magnitude to what is to be expected as a consequence of anthropogenic climate change in the next several decades. A gradual cooling commenced in the late 1940s bringing the temperature back to much lower values, although not as cold as before the warming started. …this warming was associated with and presumably initiated by a major increase in the westerly to southwesterly wind north of Norway leading to enhanced atmospheric and ocean heat transport from the comparatively warm North Atlantic Current through the passage between northern Norway and Spitsbergen into the Barents Sea….the increased winds were not related to the NAO, which in fact weakened during the 1920s and remained weak for the whole period of the warm Arctic anomaly. …the process behind the warming was most likely reduced sea ice cover, mainly in the Barents Sea. This is not an unexpected finding because of the climatic effect of sea ice in comparison with that of an open sea but is intriguing since previously available sea ice data (Chapman and Walsh 1993) did not indicate a reduced sea ice cover in the 1930s and 1940s. However, as we have shown here recent sea ice datasets [Johannessen et al. (2004) give a detailed presentation] actually showed a retreat in this period

Donald Trump Criticized Obama's Grades. But His Lawyer Threatened Trump's Alma Maters Not to Release His Own Grades

“If in the event any of his records are released or otherwise disclosed without his prior written consent, we will hold your institution liable to the fullest extent of the law including damages and criminality,” Cohen wrote in the letter, addressed to Fordham University on behalf of Trump in May 2015, requesting confirmation that the “records have been permanently sealed.”

Trump attended Fordham for two years and then transferred to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1968 with a bachelor’s degree and no apparent honors, according to the 1968 commencement program.

Who's gonna leave a legacy the world can admire ?

Haw, haw.........................................haw.

No, there is something else. Both adults worked hard and have multiple college degrees. Thunberg is well-qualified to get into college with her excellent grades. AOC tended bar and cleaned houses to help her mother get their house out of foreclosure, not because it was her chosen path.

Trudeau:
Trudeau has a bachelor of arts degree in literature from McGill University and a bachelor of education degree from the University of British Columbia. After graduation, Trudeau stayed in Vancouver where he became a substitute teacher at local schools and worked permanently as a French and math teacher at the private West Point Grey Academy. From 2002 to 2004, he studied engineering at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, a part of the Université de Montréal.[SUP][80][/SUP] He started a master's degree in environmental geography at McGill, but withdrew from the program to seek public office among other reasons.

AOC: Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007.[SUP][18][/SUP] She came in second in the Microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans.[SUP][19][/SUP] In a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.[SUP][20][/SUP][SUP][21][/SUP] In high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University. Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship.[SUP][10]

Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude from Boston University College of Arts and Sciences with a BA in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.

[SUP]hunberg: A highschooler but no slouch when it comes to intelligence. [/SUP][SUP]"[/SUP]Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist who started the Friday school strikes, has graduated from secondary education with 14 As and three Bs. She got these excellent grades despite being absent from class far more than most of her followers: As the leader of a movement, an international celebrity, and a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, she traveled extensively during her last school year.

Thanks for making my point even more pertinent. None of them have any scientific background whatsoever.
