Gun Registration Fails...So Sorry...LOL

How would they know if they were? Oh....that's right.... they don't.
unlike liberals and anti-gunners, I believe most people have intelligence and good judgement. Liberals and anti-gunners distrust the people and their freedom, preferring government subjugation to soothe their terrors.

How do you know they're not? You got a congressional hotline or something?

How do you know that the next time this comes up, you'll be wishing to God you would have taken Manchin/Toomey?

Like I said in a different thread....keep fucking over the masses, and they will revolt...then your precious Tea Party/Libertarian movement won't have a leg to stand on.

Your guys will be voted out and the libs you despise so much will fully take over.

And if you don't think it can happen, take a look at 2010, when Dems had a majority in both houses...what happened then? It can and will swing the other way if you guys keep doubling down on stupid

It's hubris pure and simple, SP. If you get a chance, change your settings back to November and read some of the threads about the campaign. You'll see how many RWs here were gloating prematurely about a Rmoney win, how their polls predicted he'd win in a landslide, how even the reliably blue states, including ours, would go red for Rmoney. The best moment of all was when Rmoney had to make an impromptu concession speech because he was so arrogantly sure of a win he didn't prepare a formal one. Ryan's droopy bloodhound face, the tears of the gobsmacked Rmoney-Ryan families, the bitter whining and excuses post-mortem, the 100% disbelief...

The wheel of fortune handed them their butts on a silver platter, to mix metaphors. And it can happen again.

The way I understand it, the amendment has specific verbiage that makes a National Registry illegal.

(c) Prohibition of National Gun Registry.-Section 923 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:
"(m) The Attorney General may not consolidate or centralize the records of the-
"(1) acquisition or disposition of firearms, or any portion thereof, maintained by-
"(A) a person with a valid, current license under this chapter;
"(B) an unlicensed transferor under section 922(t); or
"(2) possession or ownership of a firearm, maintained by any medical or health insurance entity.".
(d) Technical and Conforming Amendments.-
(1) SECTION 922.-Section 922(y)(2) of title 18, United States Code, is amended, in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking ", (g)(5)(B), and (s)(3)(B)(v)(II)" and inserting "and (g)(5)(B)".

And

SEC. 103. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.
Nothing in this title, or any amendment made by this title, shall be construed to-
(1) expand in any way the enforcement authority or jurisdiction of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; or
(2) allow the establishment, directly or indirectly, of a Federal firearms registry.

yes... whim... it is a movement based on EMOTION, which is why when asked no one who supports the fear mongers can actually explain why they want this or what these laws will do to stop psychopathic people intent upon breaking the law and causing mass carnage.

yes, we all know how well the federal government strictly adheres to firearm laws i.e. fast and furious

the issue is one of you creating a bright line distinction between freedom and tyranny. It's easy for most people to do when nothing affects them directly. Reality is much different though.

Where is this state of freedom located, the one you always talk about?

You need to buy an island in the middle of nowhere to live out your life without government.

fallacious argument. this implies that freedom is anarchy, but with government we have security over freedom. the 'free state' we treasure is this country, which isn't free right now but that's the fault of republicans and democrats over decades.

Oh....Mr...Obama's using Sandy Hook parents as props? Like victims of this kind of shit don't deserve a say? Yeah.....Mr. liberty alright. The citizenry is such an inconvenience to the Senator.

Yes, they absolutely deserve to have a say. But when Obama gathers them up and puts them on a plane and trots them around DC to try and lobby Congress... he is using them as props to push his agenda.

If they had come on their own, that is their right. But that is not what happened.

that's because we're 'smart' and learn from our historical mistakes, like never allowing a king to declare someone a criminal and imprison them for years with no trial.....oh, wait.

Geez. I remember arguing that the people in Gitmo should be brought to trial here in the US and rabid righties freaked out. "These terrorists aren't entitled to the American justice system, we can't pollute our courts with this terrorist scum, if we tried them here al-Qaeda would bomb the crap out of the courthouse, blah blah blah." You know as well as I do that conservatives don't want those people tried, they want them exterminated.

Well, since it's in the Preamble of the Constitution, then I guess it's just as inalienable as your right to obtain firearms without a background check. More so....because it didn't require an Amendment....I mean, if you want to go old school...it's one of the first things written.

You DO understand that the preamble isn't a legal clause right?

It wasn't an argument it was a question. You already said (paraphrasing) that every govt. on earth is poised to screw over its citizens, so how do you propose to get freedom?

Oh excuse me, I thought the point was finding specific language in Manchin-Toomey about registration, not philosophizing about govt. adherence.

Without registration, how would it be enforced? Like I said, people would either backdate their bills o sale, use other mediums of exchange so it wouldn't be a sale (Trades, for example, aren't sales), or just say fuck it and ignore the law completely.

lol... so Bush had them captured and put in Gitmo. Obama simply drone bombs them and anything around them. Then you come on here telling everyone how it is conservatives that wish to exterminate them? Um... ok.

Acknowldgement that the bill was not a registration bill would have been sufficient.
