Hertz plans for EVs to make up 25% of its 500,000 vehicles. MAGA soils diapers.

There are growing calls for governments to not allow any other option but EV's, starting with a mandate that only hybrids and EV's can be sold.

That's the wrong strategy.

Rather than trying without success to influence the private sector that pays for their campaigns,
the government should simply start operating in the industries where they can do a better job.

Private companies may be allowed to try to compete, but none of them will be able to do so.
Eventually, the private sector will only be operating in the few industries which are appropriate for it.

Convenience stores. Bakeries. Bistros and cafes. Night clubs. Apparel. Consumer durables. Dry cleaning.
They don't belong in things like insurance, pharma, airlines, and other places where the private sector has acted abusively.
Run them all the fuck out.

You never realize how complex an internal combustion engine is until you see another option.
Your myopia is astounding.
And the ICE car loses so much energy as heat that you have to deal with.
You are describing EVs, not ICE cars. It is EVs that use almost twice the energy of ICE cars.
Electric motors transfers the energy directly to the axle. So much more efficient. So much less maintenance. There's just no argument there.
No, it doesn't. You are forgetting the transmission again.
It is also NOT efficient. EVs use almost twice the energy of ICE cars going the same distance. You are ignoring the energy lost to charge the car again.

Thw WOKE dont believe in freedom of choice anymore than they believe in truth....surely you know this.

On the other hand, each has its place in terms of the work it does. Electric motors are not good a highly variable loads, and especially ones that exceed the horsepower and torque of the motor. CEMF just doesn't allow for them to work. An ICE engine can handle a wider range of loads. It may not be particularly efficient with a heavy load beyond what it is expected to handle, but it can be used.

That is, electric motors and EV's don't work well for towing or for heavy load hauling when they were designed to be efficient at normal vehicle weights with a specific load. ICE vehicles do much better.
At some point, you get to what's called 'locked rotor' with an electric motor. At that point, running it longer will smoke the motor. With an ICE engine it simply stalls under the load.

A locked rotor isn't really a problem with EVs, since they don't see such loads. If it WERE to somehow happen, the fusible link blows, opening the circuit and preventing damage to wiring or motor.
Otherwise, totally correct.

Technically, WOKE has little to do with either choice or truth.

It's mostly, in my view,
about looking out for the delicate feelings of hypersensitive snowflakes.

Well, yea, you end up with something like a fuse or the like popping and then a trip to the dealer on a tow truck followed by a bill approaching four figures for them to reset or replace the fuse and get the car running again...

They have to open everything up and replace the fusible link. Yup. It's expensive.

I don't think that EVs can survive with private sector charging stations replacing private sector fueling stations.

If the government takes over control of the charging stations and builds them everywhere, whether profitable locations or not,
then I'd be more likely to trust the EV.

One of this nation's major failures is having too many industries in the private sector which would operate more efficiently under government control.
Because that has worked so well in so many countries. :eyeroll::oprah:

Heh. I actually passed a dead Tesla on the road today. The driver was on his phone app no doubt trying to get a flatbed to come out and haul his ass to a charging station.

My mind runs back a couple of years to a Hurricane evacuation in FL and Teslas were going dead and blocking the highways to the point where they were being pushed off the road, and somehow magically Tesla sent an update giving some of them an additional few miles to get to someplace where they could sit for the next six hours to gain another 200 miles on their 1000 mile journey to safe space into Georgia or Alabama.

EV owners charge their cars in their garage 90% of the time.

Do you have a garage?

I don't feel that way, even though I've clearly no particular affinity for the WOKE.

Short sighted capitalists and maniacal theocrats are my greater concern.

The far right wing MAGAs are trying to make 'Woke' their 'Benghazi'. They have nothing to say about the virtues of their party so they have to tear down their opponents with bullshit conspiracy theories and deception. That's all they have. What good things do they have to say about their Republiclown party?

See the Right Wing Super Patriot:

Hear him preach how he loves his country. Hear him preach how he hates Liberals...and Moderates...and Intellectuals...and Activists...and Pacifisits...and Minority Groups...and Aliens...and Teenagers...and the Very Rich...and the Very Poor...and People with Foreign-sounding names.
Now you know what a Right Wing Super Patriot is:
Someone who loves his country while hating most of the Americans who live in it.
