Hey, MAGA voters: You've been had. Trump's plans for the economy may ruin you.

President-elect Donald Trump cares deeply about the forgotten men and women of the MAGA movement, the regular folks who believe wealthy elites have made America decidedly NOT GREAT.

So I’m sure those forgotten men and women are thrilled to know Trump has stocked his upcoming administration with enough billionaires and multimillionaires to, as The Guardian put it recently, “form a soccer team.”

That’s right. Axios reported last week that, including Trump himself, the administration-to-be is already staffed with 14 billionaires. The list includes Linda McMahon as Education secretary, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as government efficiency overseers, Howard Lutnick as Commerce secretary and billionaire hedge-fund manager Scott Bessent as Treasury secretary.

I’m sure these down-to-earth billionaires care deeply about the forgotten men and women who put Trump in office. Surely they are in no way “elite,” aside from perhaps owning an island, or maybe occasionally hunting poor people for sport on said island.

Trump is surrounding himself with non-elite billionaires who care

Forbes reported in 2021 that President Joe Biden’s Cabinet had a net worth of about $188 million.

The Guardian puts the net worth of Trump’s gang thus far at more than $300 billion. If you believe in math, it's a staggering sum, about 2,000 times the wealth of those in the Biden administration.

So, you know … regular folks, the kind who undoubtedly can relate to the day-to-day needs of Americans. The sort who regularly go to grocery stores, which they refer to as “commoner slop-distribution centers.” The kind who would never want to harvest the blood of young people in a narcissistic quest for eternal life.

Musk, Ramaswamy may come after VA health care, but it's fine

There’s no way billionaire businessmen like Musk and Ramaswamy would do anything that helps the rich at the expense of hardworking Americans. They wrote recently in The Wall Street Journal that they will be “taking aim at the $500 billion plus in annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress.”

And yes, that could include things like the Department of Veterans Affairs medical services, billions of dollars in funding for education and housing, and the Head Start program.

But I’m 100% sure we can trust these billionaires because they’re with Trump, and Trump is clearly anti-elite. As the conservative Heritage Foundation trumpeted after the election: “With Trump’s Win, ‘Ordinary’ Americans Declared Independence from the Elites.”

And Fox Business host Stuart Varney said after Trump won: “The elites have been living in a bubble. Trump just burst it.”

Huzzah! Take that, elites! Now please stand back while regular-guy-billionaire Donald Trump installs a phalanx of other billionaires who will, in a totally non-elite way, lower their own taxes while taking away government services that many forgotten men and women rely on for little things like continuing to live.

Why do liberals love FDR then if we're strictly judging people based on their net worth?
This is a capitalist society based on competition for resources and opportunity. All FDR did was a little redistribution of the national coffers to give the working stiffs who make it all possible to have SOMETHING to show for all their contribution and abiding by the law.

Policies are policies regardless of the net worth of the person proposing them yet the OP is arguing that the net worth is in fact what’s important.

Your TDS is certifiable, biiih! :ROFLMAO:

Policies are policies regardless of the net worth of the person proposing them yet the OP is arguing that the net worth is in fact what’s important.
WRONG! The OP is merely pointing out the FACTS that (once again) those who are not part of the upper investor class or inherently wealthy want to balance a budget on the backs of those are essentially living paycheck to paycheck. To date, none or our MAGA clowns in the gov't or media (or general population) deal with the FACT that the largest contributor to our financial problems is a military budget that has FAILED an audit by the GAO for years!

Hey, MAGA voters: You've been had. Trump's plans for the economy may ruin you.
@signalmankenneth - Let's talk about your conflicting wording:

1. You say that I have been had ...
2. ... because Trump may ruin me.

Why did you not write "Trump's plans for the economy will absolutely, positively ruin you."

My speculation is that, because you are a totally dishonest and economics-challenged leftist, you are doing the standard leftist spite-driven fear-mongering and panic-peddling before Trump's tariffs bring immense wealth to the US, prosperity to We the People, and enable the elimination of both the IRS and the income tax. I further speculate that when all this prosperity befalls, you will EVADE all requests to explain your previous TDS-driven fear-mongering and drown us in a deluge of "I never said"s

Actually entitlements cost far more than the military and interest on our debt now exceeds military expenditures.

Once again, the upper 1% of the dishonest class is once again assaulting another completely undefined group by pure insinuation.

You're a moron. The primary cause of the government's financial woes is the actual OVERSPENDING, not any failed accounting that conceals the OVERSPENDING.

Actually entitlements cost far more than the military and interest on our debt now exceeds military expenditures.
Our "debt" is largely due to the Shrub putting the Iraq war on the national credit card (so to speak), and the 20 fruitless years spent in Afghanistan. Also, you can add a hefty tab for all the years of corporate/wealthy individual tax breaks care of the variations of "reaganomics" via Reagan/Bush, Bush, Trump.

As for the OLD BS line about the "staggering" cost of "entitlements" exceeding military expenditures (i.e., social security, medicare), let me put that nonsense to rest:

"Entitlements" is a generic term that encompasses healthcare, pensions, welfare, education. Your healthcare cost come courtesy of medical insurance companies and corporatized hospital chains.

Each year the military ask for BILLIONS MORE in their budget, yet they have CONSISTENLY FAILED AUDITS for several years.

So when you go beyond a generalized talking point, one sees the reality. This is why the "conservative" movement has been angling for DECADES to deconstruct any and all gains by FDR's "New Deal". They called him "a traitor to his class". Nuff said.

Our national debt is $34 trillion. The Iraq War is an extremely small part of that. (We’re running $2 trillion deficits now with no end to that in sight).

Entitlements (S.S. and Medicare) are the largest expenses on the federal govt balance sheet and as stated interest on the debt now exceeds military spending.

Those are just facts (nothing conservative or liberal about that).

You're a retard that gobbles up media lies. Stop that, you'll be better off for it.

Your repeating yourself, but you can't change the FACTS.

FACT: "Entitlements" is a generic term that encompasses healthcare, pensions, welfare, education. Your healthcare cost come courtesy of medical insurance companies and corporatized hospital chains.

FACT: the military is a SINGLE ENTITY which consistently FAILS in audits as it requests and is granted INCREASES in its budget.

If YOU hand in an incorrect tax form, the IRS will either adjust it for what you really owe or call you in for an audit to determine such. Interests is added to your balance each time you miss a payment deadline. The military seems exempt from such and gets MORE MONEY added to its budget. So its interest payments are WAY off!

Add to the deficit all the "tax breaks" for corporations and the wealthy, the foggy budget of the military and you have some serious issues.

Naturally, the powers that be say that it's NOT their tax breaks or the military's ballooning unaccountable budget, but it's grandma & grandpa's social security and medical benefits that are the main cause of our deficits.

Hmm, where the hell do you think the money that bailed out the banks that were "too big to fail" came from?

Bottom line: all you've got is a parroting of assertions that just don't stand up to deductive reasoning.

I am repeating myself because they are the facts (and education isn’t lumped in with entitlements).

I’m not defending military spending. I’m stating where it ranks in spending on the balance sheet.

You (anyone) can debate how you (anyone) think our tax dollars should be spent. I’m not arguing that. That’s a different discussion. I’m stating what the numbers show.

Repetition does not magically make your summation a truism.

What I state is FACT that deconstructs your myopic viewpoint. That you refuse to acknowledge that is of little consequence to the objective and informed reader. Sorry, but that's just the way it is .... your insipid stubbornness non-withstanding.

If one looks up the national debt of the U.S. will it have multiple answered based on one’s political beliefs or ideology? Is our annual deficit different based on those beliefs as well? For those who grade our debt which books are they viewing? The same question for oversees investors.

Maybe we are having two different conversations but I’ve never heard discussing the economic numbers of our gov’t as myopic,

I think you're about to live the meme:

Why do liberals love FDR then if we're strictly judging people based on their net worth?
Most of the people on this forum weren't even born when FDR died.

More importantly, it's not the wealth of a particular politician that matters, but setting up an oligarchy? Many MAGAts have whined about "the elites" while cheering Trump setting up a cabinet and staff full of elites. WTF?
