Then you haven't been paying attention. Kaine has been a rising star in the Democratic party for around 10 years. He's a Democrat who knows how to win elections in the deep south. He's a hawk on defense, moderate on social issues, conservative on abortion, a Keynsian on economics. Pro-free market and trade though he did vote for sugar tariffs to stabilize the price. He's liberal on civil rights. Sounds like my kind of guy.I have no idea and I've never heard of him till a week ago.
If I'm Hillary [ugh lol] my worry is mobilizing the minority vote since the white male vote is a lost cause anyway. Is there a shortage of minority democrats to choose from?
Did she want to lock up VA in November? That doesn't make a lot of sense because VA is one of, perhaps the only, swing state she has a good lead in.
I don't know why she picked him.
Kaine is definitely a SOP to centrist, moderate, independent voters. He has all the requisite education, experience and bonafides for executive leadership too (as does Pence).
Clinton's and Trumps VP selection definitely show different electoral strategies. Clinton is definitely storming towards the center as her selection of Kaine would indicate. This is not going to please progressives or Bernie bro's. However it does give her the ability to build a much broader constituency than her opponent.
Trump on the other hand is doubling down on a voter turn out strategy by selecting the uber conservative Pence.
