How is Richardson...

"SF, I read more non-fiction books in a month then you do in a year, so you can knock that crap off please."

yes mam, :o

"As for Richardson, he doesn't have it. It's a way of modern America, since the first televised Presidential debate, that a candidate is going to have to have some charisma. Don't scold me about it, I am not the one who voted in 2000 based on who seemed to be the cooler guy to have a beer with.

And look what happened. That's just the way it is."

So just accept that it is a beauty and hype contest and forget about promoting the best candidate to lead the country? Sorry, that I cannot do. I understand it is the way things have been, but as you said... look where that has gotten us. Clowtoon1 and Bush.

I don't know if it's beauty, I would not call either Bill or W beauties. I mean, Edwards yes. But not those two. Bill had that damned charisma that still gets me to this day. W had something that I was turned off by, that frat boy chumminess, but a lot of people seemed to swoon over it. I really can't explain W actually.

But if a candidate has that special something, star dust, then that's going to go a long way, but not all the way. Look what is happening with Obama who everyone said was the it guy. No one would accuse Hillary of being filled with stardust and the big charismatic charmer, but she is way out in front. And boy Rudy? I cant' figure that either, that guy is so far from a charmer it's not even funny.

Richardson just has none of it, he's actually clumsy. It's just not going to cut it.

Richardson is far better on foreign policy than Boar and without question teh fraud. Domestic policy would be closer, but Richardson is still better than Boar. The fraud is pathetic.

Who could have predicted that my favorite candidate would be your least favorite candidate? I mean, I don't think that anyone saw that coming. If you had told people it would turn out this way 6 months ago, they would have said it was crazy talk!

Quite crying Superfreak.

Everyone on this board I bet, has a viscereal, gut-level feeling about who is presidential material, and who isn't. And its not just about policy, looks, and charisma. Its a complex blend of many things.

I can see Obama, Edwards and Clinton as prez. Hell, I can even see Joe Biden as prez.

Richardson is a cabinet secretary, or vice prez at best.

Agreed. And I can see Biden there too.

LOL. I always hated watching Clinton on TV, to me he was a bad actor who somehow convinced people who wanted to hear what he was selling, regardless of whether it was a lie. It would often make me nearly physically ill. I knew 100% that he was lying about "that woman", for instance, and his supporters swooned over his "anger". I saw it as terrible acting, crappy in extreme, a person embarrassed trying to cover up with false bravado. I also hated that we were going after that crap instead of Chinese Campaign funds...

I certainly don't "swoon" over Bush, and often see him as just a worse actor. For instance, I knew we would be going into Iraq as soon as he started talking about them. I wasn't "fooled" like Kerry.

Don't you think that Biden's got that "it" factor. That complex blend of many things, that just makes him seem like a natural leader and presidential material?

Yeah. I disagree with him on several things, but he's got those things. He's smart too. And I he lets his hair down once in a while and says something that a Presidential candidate shoudl not say. I don't mind that.

It has a good beat and I can dance to it. I bet he'd be nice to hang with and have a beer too. Thank gawd we learned from 2000!

I knew he was lying about Monica too. But I didn't feel the way you describe about him. I met him about two years ago. I touched him. It was very heady.

Agree on bush and Iraq.

He's got what to me sounds like a smart plan on Iraq. It has nothing to do with having a beer with him. I don't think he'd make a half-bad President.

I hated Clinton in the "that woman" mode, but man, he was great when he'd go off-script about a particular issue. Policy-wise, he was a smart dude, and could speak extemporaneously on just about anything, very insightfully.

Something that's kind of lacking, these days...

Well, not if the subject is TV Land or the Cartoon network.

LOL - love the sarcasm. You're joking, right?

Cause no sane person could possibly compare Chimpy to Joe Biden. Biden is actually super smart, and a bit of a policy wonk. You could probably ask him to give a 30 minute impromptu talk on medicare reform, and he could do it off the top of his head, without teleprompters. And talking real substance, yet in down to earth language.

I don't see chimpy being that deep or substantive ;)

Biden is a jackass and a very long shot, he's not a serious politician.

One out of 3 ain't bad. No doubt he's a long shot, but I'll bet the farm that he's the next secretary of state. He knows more about foreign policy, and has better ideas, than any other Dem candidate...
