As far as I'm concerned, Twitter, Youtube, Google, and Facebook have all lost Section 230 protections. They are political blogs now, open to slander lawsuits by their banned users and monopoly lawsuits.
It's time to hit 'em where it hurts....in the wallet.
If you don't like what the platforms do, you don't have to use them.
You don't have a Constitutional Right to Facebook.
Even if they were doing that, I would hope under the first amendment they would always be able to.
The tech oligarchs got an exemption from the 1st amendment. It called section 230. The gov't failed to protect our free speech.
Twitter is a private company that can pretty much do what they want. Just like Fox News, which of course you never complain about.
The tech companies are not a part of the government, they’ve always been free to censor speech. They didn’t need an exemption.
one size fits all is for dumbasses. this devil is in the details. a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.
besides, fascism would be facebook taking over the government.
Until an alternative arrives.
Depends on how much longer the fucking lying right-wing scumbags keep trying to use it as a platform to spread blatant, obvious fucking LIES AND PROPAGANDA.
When your assholes stop posting bullshit they'll stop being "censored" as you so inaccurately put it.
Seems simple enough to most of us.
Nick Sandman was able to sue CNN for spreading lies about him, but he couldn't sue Twitter and Fascistbook for doing the same thing.
No, they cannot. No private company is immune from slander. These companies have opened themselves up to lawsuits.
The Sandman - CNN case was dismissed.
No, they cannot. No private company is immune from slander. These companies have opened themselves up to lawsuits.
The fact that social media "fact-checkers" have failed to act on anti-Trump lies and propaganda would seem simple enough to the simple. and that makes you so mad.
The Media Research Center’s Techwatch department analyzed two years of social media posts from Trump, Biden, and their respective campaigns. The analysis did not include any ads from PACs or super PACs that had made ads in favor of either candidate. It also focused on social media posts, not paid advertisements, from the campaigns. These numbers were collected from between May 2018 to October 16, 2020.

They are not free to censor speech and keep Section 230 protections. They are slandering their users. They are open to lawsuits.
Is it?
