How your personality relates to others

As noted in the quoted conversation, text communication is a very poor form of communication for many reasons. Sharing one's personality traits help people to understand the communicator. If a communicator understands another person's personality, they might be able to better tailor their communications for better understanding.

The Myers-Briggs exam is a staple and many here may have seen it before in school or on an application.

Note that:

1) there are no wrong answers. No right answers either.

2) Although it'd be nice of people to share their results on this thread, I highly encourage everyone to take the exam for themselves regardless if they want to share or not.

FWIW, it appears many people enjoy their results even if they don't always share them.

I'll keep this one brief.
Inarticulate people much more often than I tend to disguise their inadequacies with brevity, but I'm sure that you're doing the best that you can, Oom.
While that's true, it's not a single post that gives you a picture of the person. Text is one of the poorest means of communication because it lacks all other human non-verbal sound and visual cues such tone, inflection, volume, facial expressions, etc.

For example, what is the difference between these three statements?:

Fuck you.

Fuck you.

Fuck you.

The first was said jovially, the second more sternly and I really meant the last one. ;)

Ergo, going solely by a short post isn't enough to write a dossier on me or anyone else. This is why I like the personality exams so much; it's a major indicator of where the person is coming from.

Although the information is interesting, where a person comes from, their religious beliefs, skin-tone, etc aren't as important as what they say and how they think. The personality exam helps answer "how they think".

As a remind, I'm an "architect".

How did the quiz thing describe that personality type? Do you think it's accurate for you?
pretty much

Thanks. Both my wife and I thought so too.

What are your views on the problem of "self-fulfilling" prophecy? That if we read a horoscope or personality quiz result that we tend to act more like the traits we were told to have?

Frankly, I've been using my results as a permission slip. :D

I took the test originally over ten years ago and it stayed the same

horoscopes too generic

I've taken a lot of tests (military/CIA, civilian airlines, etc) but most of the time never knew the results.

LOL on horoscopes. Along with fortune cookies, key proof of self-fulfilling prophecies...at least in their minds. Those involve supernatural forces, of which there is zero proof of existence. While I believe there is something beyond mortal existence and our finite Universe**, there is only anecdotal evidence of anything beyond the physical laws the Universe.

Using the who principle of Positive Thinking, people can change themselves for the better. I think that may be why the website put a positive face on the results of all 16 personalities.

**Probably finite with total entropy. Certainly a finite life, planet, star and solar system.
