To include suicides in your argument invalidates it. The only way it would mean something is that if you could prove that the person committing suicide wouldn't have done it unless with a gun. The only way to do that is to ask them. Since you can't, they don't count.

Actually, it's about 8500 or so. One thing the gun haters don't mention is that of the guns used to commit those murders, only a very small percentage are with a gun that the person committing the murder owned/possessed legally. The vast majority are with a gun that the person shouldn't have owned or possessed. That means the laws they propose would apply to those that have already proven they don't adhere to the laws. In other words, those laws would, as Thomas Jefferson said, "only disarm those that are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes".

People are making a big stink about gun violence, especially mass shootings, which account for a mere one in a thousand gun deaths. Let's crunch some numbers here. It is estimated that there are about 250 million guns in this country. Roughly 10,000 people die as a result of gun violence every year. So, if we do a little math... 10,000/250,000,000 we find that only .00004 percent of guns are used to commit homicides every year. Actually, it's even less than that since many of those guns are used in multiple homicides. So there you have it. Guns are not the problem. The numbers do not lie.
