‘I will not be silenced’: Rashida Tlaib hits back at congressional censure motion

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has denounced the Republican-led House of Representatives’ decision to censure Rashida Tlaib over her criticisms of Israel.

In a statement released on Wednesday, CAIR national executive director Nihad Awad said:

The American Muslim community stands against this hypocritical and racist targeting of representative Rashida Tlaib, whose voice is indispensable in representing the concerns of millions of Americans who are horrified by the war crimes our government supports against the Palestinian people. She should wear this cowardly censure as a badge of honor. We will not be cowed by those attempting to muzzle our voices.

Both Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives who orchestrated the suppression and censure of the only Muslim Palestinian voice in Congress under the cover of darkness while ignoring the openly racist, bigoted and violent remarks that members of Congress have made about Muslims and Palestinians, should be deeply ashamed of their actions. They are on the wrong side of history.

Let's start with her chanting "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!" That is a call for the destruction of Israel as a nation and Palestine taking all of the land that is now Israel for themselves.

From Beirut to London, from Tunis to Rome, calls for a ceasefire ending Israel’s relentless bombing of Gaza were interspersed with the slogan: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

To the crowds waving Palestinian flags, the chant reverberating across the globe expresses the desire for freedom from oppression across the historical land of Palestine. But for Israel and its backers, who label the phrase as pro-Hamas, it is a veiled call to violence that bears an anti-Semitic charge.

One of the most important things that Congress can do is to censor those who support a terrorist group.

It is telling that so many Democrats voted against censoring a supporter of a terrorist group, Hamas.

The vote was 234-188 .

There were 188 votes by Democrats against censoring a Democratic member who is supporting a group that is on the State Department list of terrorist organizations.

Unbelievable.

Link? She is my congressperson. I have talked to her many times. You can look it up, her parents are both from Palestine. And you rightys think she has no right to speak as Israel blows up Palestine.

“Over 50 schools and numerous hospitals have been leveled.”

Link, Nordy.

If AOC says it, I'm inclined to believe it.

Even though she's not as resolutely pro-Israel as I am,
and that disappoints me,
she is an excellent congresswoman in my view.

I care about domestic issues a lot more than I do the Middle East.

Commies hate the Middle East.

Rashida's parents came from Palestine to Detroit. She has family and friends in Gaza. That does give her a different perspective than most Americans and Israeli backers. You can make all the political arguments that you want but her family, friends, and their home are being blown up by Israel. The mass of Gaza civilians are just people trying to go from one day to the next. Now they cannot. Over 50 schools and numerous hospitals have been leveled. The infrastructure is being destroyed more every day. When Netanyahoo thinks he has scored all the points he can get from Gaza, he will leave the people a terrible mess.

Well, that's what happens when you elect violent, self-destructive, suicidal, terrorists to run your country. Maybe those in Gaza need to reassess who is running--ruining--things and change that. Schools and hospitals wouldn't be attacked by Israel if groups like Hamas weren't using them as military installations to fight from. Gaza is fucked up because the Palestinians living there let it become fucked up. Many, a majority, contributed in one way or another to it being fucked up.

Israel and Egypt wouldn't care if the Palestinians in Gaza kept that shit in Gaza, but the Palestinians don't. Thus, their neighbors have built strong fences to keep the Palestinians out.

There have been a good number of people elected that could easily be called a piece of shit.
This jackwagon'd be at the top of the list...
