If not for Bill, no one would know Hillary

It seems like an obvious point, but it's worth saying, again & again.

I always said that if our current President's last name wasn't "Bush," we'd have no idea who he is. He probably wouldn't have been elected Town Supervisor in Crawford.

The same is true of Hillary. Her lead in national polls is name recognition ONLY, but it will likely be solidified by the time actual primary voting begins. And it's a real shame, because this is one of the strongest Democratic fields in awhile; it deserves to be more competitive deep into the primaries, instead of being done by New Hampshire.

Can't we do better over 20-28 years than 2 familes, of which there will likely be only 1 President we would classify as "good" when all is said & done?

I have to say, this is really depressing me on a deep level...

I've been very optimistic until I saw the most recent Iowa polling...Hillary took the lead there too. It's pretty crushing. I don't know what these people are thinking, these likely primary voters who are being polled, but they are not on my wavelength.

Same here - the last Iowa poll really shattered my little bubble of wishful thinking.

I really don't get it, but I have never really "gotten" the American voter in general. As for primary voters who choose Hillary - I feel the same way that I felt about Bush voters: they deserve what the get, but the rest of the country doesn't...

The only thing I can think is that it's about Bill. That people want him back, because things were under control when he was President, and they're not now, and he can fix everything again.

People can be really simple, you know? It is depressing.

Agree with everything above.

I have to agree with all of this except I am not letting myself get that depressed over it. I think it is because I don't let myself think about it too much anymore, hence my infrequent visits to this message board. I cannot believe that either party can't come up with anything better than we are being offered for '08.

Yeah, this sucks. I am going to be very bummed if hillary wins the nomination.

But, its not over yet. I think until about mid-december, its all mostly about name recognition.

I agree with you Lorax. I think if she gets the nod, I'm voting for the Greens or Nader this time around. I can't stomach electing anyone who's going to continue BAU with the war machine.

I keep hoping for a miracle. I felt sure that her vote on Iran & her ridiculously safe debate tactics would cause her to lose at least some ground in the polls, but she actually gained. It's like some sort of nightmare.

It won't happen, but it would be great if Obama & Edwards could somehow join forces (with one agreeing to a VP slot). Combined, they could probably take her in the early states, w/ a little luck. Nothing like that has ever happened, though...

I'm still holding my breath for Gore.

Gore is the only one that can beat Hillary.
Funny getting depressed over Hillary benefitting from Bill, lorax must have a shallow empty life.
Those in the know, also are aware Bill never gets elected to anything without Hillary.

He must have an empty shallow life, because he cares? Funny, I think just the opposite.

And it's impossible to say what Bill would have become if he were married to someone else. Of course, I have no idea what "being in the know" on this particular matter could mean.
