Ignorance and the Bible

Without organization how does one avoid simply making up a god to suit one's own preferences?

“I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.”

― Susan B. Anthony
Good question, that happens all the time.
But not to me,I was minding my own business at Midnight Nov 1 1975! When the Holy Spirit descended on me ,gave me a mission, and has me in training ever since.

Unconvincing. I don't see anything about Satan in Genesis 1.

I prefer physics.

But at the level of poetry and metaphor, the description of the universe's beginning in both Genesis 1/2 and in the Daodejing is actually pretty decent.
I could care less if you're convinced, you're still search,I was Chosen and trained by the Holy Spirit and given what I need to know for my mission. Part of the training include Satan's rebellion and the fallout of the rebellion. Starting with the Big Bang and the creation of the physical universe! It's actually simple timeline. The Spirit world predates the Physical universe. And a Spiritual event caused the Big Bang.

There is literally no one on here who insults Christians to even half the level that atheists are attacked.

Weird isn't it? Atheists terrify believers. So much so that none of them can even understand atheism it is so anathema to them.
I find atheists refreshingly honest, they don't believe and want evidence!
Compared to people caught up in the trap of Organized Religion and it's out dated traditions. Not that there isn't Holy Spirit filled Churches!

He's young. Jus' sayin'.

Agreed. Notice that not many MAGAts claim to be Christians. White Nationalist Christians are not Christians. The only person pushing Christianity that I recall off-hand is @Margot . @Jade Dragon is a Christian but isn't pushy about it much less attacking those who do not agree with his beliefs like @gmark77 .

Yes, it appears he is but he doesn't seem to know any better.
Margot knows time is short! "When you see the Reaper, you know the Harvest is near"R (13).jpg

Well it's certainly been educational for me to realize that most people have zero clue about atheism.
What's to know atheists don't believe in God because they have no evidence! Or they don't see the evidence, or they ignore the evidence!
Or they don't think the evidence is evidence!
I sympathize! It was easy for me, I was Chosen , I resigned,my resignation was rejected and class started. Yada Yada it's 50 years later!

If scholars think Herodotus wrote something that wasn't true, they give logical reasons for why they think it isn't true.

They don't just blurt out "it isn't true!", and then bolt for the hills refusing to entertain questions or provide reasons.

Hyper-skepticism is not an intellectually fair minded approach. I think hyper-skepticism usually operates as a cover for a preconceived agenda.

There are no surviving accounts from eyewitnesses about Alexander the Great. The oldest extant document reporting on Alexander the Great was written four hundred years after he died.

The New Testament isn't one book written by one author. It is a collection of books independently written by multiple authors, many of whom weren't even Christian, they were Jews. I'm not sure about whether Luke identified himself as a Christian per se, but he certainly was a Greek-speaking gentile.

The NT's very nature of multiple independent sources that makes legitimate historians accept that there is some reliable historical data in them.

The resurrection account is not a,story that slowly evolved over time.

The resurrection account goes back to the very earliest days of the early Christ-followers in Jerusalem. The creed cited in 1 Corinthians demonstrates that a fully reported resurrection account probably goes back into the 30s AD, shortly after the crucifixion.
Could all be lies..

what if it is all a lie?

does that mean morality is stupid?

Not my words.
The words of theoretical physicist Aleksandr Valenkin, one of the authors of the BGV theorem.

The answer to the question, “Did the universe have a beginning?” is, “It probably did.” We have no viable models of an eternal universe. The BGV theorem gives us reason to believe that such models simply cannot be constructed.
Aleksandr Valenkin
That leaves a question for atheists like you, and agnostics like me: how could a lawfully ordered and finely-tuned universe blink into existence by inanimate random chance?

"But my own view is that the theorem does not tell us anything about the existence of God. But a deep mystery remains."
Aleksandr Valenkin
Random quotes and buzzwords won't work Sybil. Your BS is obvious.

Unconvincing. I don't see anything about Satan in Genesis 1.
See Genesis 3.

There is no Big Bang described in the Bible.
I prefer physics.
You have already discarded several theories of physics, and you try to BS your way through others with buzzword. Religion isn't physics.
But at the level of poetry and metaphor, the description of the universe's beginning in both Genesis 1/2 and in the Daodejing is actually pretty decent.
The Bible does not describe a beginning of the Universe.

I also belonged to an atheist dominated forum called The Agnostic Forum. Found out after I joined that it was coupled with another forum called The Atheist Forum. As I said, atheists dominated...and got their panties in a knot because I argued from an agnostic perspective. It eventually got so bad that I was not allowed to say anything without a moderator claiming all sorts of things.

The atheist perspective is very poorly represented here in JPP...but even when represented by intelligent individuals is almost the same as a theistic perspective except for the direction it takes on the major question: "Is there at least one god?"
Atheism doesn't care about 'representation'. There ARE a couple of actual atheists on JPP. Most claiming to be 'atheist' are fundamentalists in the Church of No God. They are not atheist at all.
