A.S. was not perfect, and I have always thought there might be some residual anti-semitism associated with him (I might be wrong about that).

The behaviors shown by much of his followers during Trump's run to office and ever since were deplorable behaviors. Anyone and everyone has the right to call it so. To act in such ill behavior is the basic definition of being deplorable. I can't blame any of them for making such claims. I as a Christian don't do thing in such a brash manner but I'm not going to say others are wrong too.
Point out these "deplorable behaviors" you say his supporters had. I'd say it's you Hillary supporters who have behavior disorders.

If you have to have the multiple instances of trumpanzee radical behavior and racist terrorism acts POINTED OUT TO YOU, then you are likely a supporter or enabler to start with. As such, the absence of self respect and dignity in these individuals would likely go unnoticed by you.

He always denied being anti-Semitic, and more importantly he had many prominent defenders in the Jewish community who knew him and vouched for his character. So I am of the mind that the charges against AS are unproven. He had a lot of enemies in the Soviet government who had a vested interest in libeling him.

Because there is justification for people being intolerant does not make it any less intolerant. Trump people think they are justified in attacking liberals and the media, racists think they are justified in disliking minorities, Buddhists and Hindus and Christians think they are justified in thinking Muslims are bad people, some think they are justified in disliking illegal immigrants, liberals think Trump supporters are ignorant and uneducated, liberals don't like evangelicals, rich people, and corporations.
All these things are examples of intolerance although they all have some truth to their reasons for their hate. Intolerance does not become acceptable just because you have reasons for hating others. Calling out the behavior of others is not the same as denigrating an entire group of people. Only a small portion of Trump supporters engaged in deplorable behavior just as most liberals do not engage in deplorable acts by Black Lives Matter or Anti-Fa.
