We have no way of knowing if the death penalty would have been on the table if the family had preferred it.
Since they didn’t, we will never know.
Perhaps some of the real bad boys in prison will teach him a lesson about rape.
I think we all know. I also believe that the DA worked to convince them to go that route because that was the route he wanted to take. Personally I do not like the death penalty because there is no possible way to ensure no innocents are put to death and it creates an unfixable situation if you find out they were innocent after the sentence has been carried out... so it isn't like I'm personally upset, I just recognize the positions of the DAs and AGs that Soros buys with his money.
I don't disagree. I just hope he gets some Jeffrey Dahmer treatment.

I normally delete memes in my responses, but I'll keep this one for reference.
I am very much in favor of immediately deporting all violent criminal illegals. I am in favor of deporting illegals who are negatively impacting job markets for Americans (but not where they are filling needed labor deficiencies).
Ergo, I am not strongly in support of deporting every single illegal immigrant. Nonetheless, I do support mass deportations.

Here are some points to keep in mind over the next few months as you encounter and overcome weak arguments from leftists.
First, the new administration will seek to deport quickly those illegal immigrants who are deemed national security threats.
At the same time, it will pursue illegal immigrants with criminal records.
It will assign priority to the illegals whose cases have already been adjudicated and were previously ordered to de deported.
Last year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported that as of Sept. 30, 2023, there were 1,292,830 people in the U.S. illegally who have already had full legal due process and have already received a final deportation order from an immigration judge.
Ironically, the Trump administration will rely on a document known as the Mayorkas Memorandum to deport other illegals.
On Sept. 30, 2021, Joe Biden's Department of Homeland Security head Alejandro Mayorkas sent that administration’s top immigration officials a set of guidelines for enforcing immigration law.
In the memo, Mayorkas laid out the Biden Administration's rules for deporting illegal immigrants.
“We will prioritize for apprehension and removal noncitizens who are a threat to our national security, public safety, and border security,” Mayorkas wrote.
The first group is terrorists and spies.
The second is known criminals.
Then there is the third group, the "threats to border security", as defined by the Biden Administration.
“A noncitizen who poses a threat to border security is a priority for apprehension and removal,” Mayorkas wrote.
“A noncitizen is a threat to border security if (a) they are apprehended at the border or port of entry while attempting to unlawfully enter the United States; or (b) they are apprehended in the United States after unlawfully entering after November 1, 2020.”
Therefore, when the Trump Administration applies the Nov. 1, 2020, Biden rules - the Mayorkas standard - by deporting those who had most recently crossed illegally into the U.S., Democrats will have no basis for complaint whatsoever.
At the same time, it will pursue illegal immigrants with criminal records.

During Obama's dark Reign of Error, many illegals were coached by operatives employed by leftist NGOs (non-governmental organizations) to discard their ID from their country of origin and say "asylum", "refugee" and "credible fear" to immigration officers and Border Patrol agents.
That's why the southern border is strewn with discarded documents.
Obama and his hapless third-term figurehead Biden chose not to detain them during the adjudication process.
They simply released them (usually on their own recognizance) and told them to come back when summoned for a court date in the future.
In many cases they gave the illegals "free" rides (by bus or air) to destinations all over the USA and provided them with "free" phones and preloaded debit cards.
The "freebies" were, of course, provided by the US government.
Unbelievably, "refugees" were allowed to skip security screening at airports while American had to submit to ID checks, scans, and searches.
Remember, these individuals had no verified ID, having discarded theirs at the border. The scanty "travel authorizations they were issued contained only what the "refugees" had told Immigration. Nobody checked. How could they?
Then, so-called "sanctuary" states and cities (and countless hapless small towns) were inundated with hordes of"refugees" and were - in many cases - expected to give them "free" lodging, "free" medical care, and "free" access to hospitals and public schools.
You can guess how many returned for their court dates.

I've been to NYC (Manhattan) many times delivering for restaurants. Many take their deliveries in the basements and you have to avoid the rat traps.
Miserable, but usually just once a week. The others deliveries were in DC, Maryland and Virginia. I did that for 2 years until I found a good Machinist's job. Yeah, you can keep your cities, I prefer the rural areas.

I'm all in favor of the rule of law, hence a republican form of government, as opposed to a democracy and mob rule. If we are following a law as detailed and specific as you elucidated, I'm fully on board. What I appreciate is the prioritization. I don't want to see unjust, two-tiered witch hunts whereby illegals who do not pose any national security threat are persecuted, or harassed, while DEI enforcement sees murderers, rapists, child traffickers, and fentanyl pushers are ignored, or set free, or not required to pay bail, etc...
I also don't want to hear about "families being separated" because all criminals are separated from their families upon arrest and incarceration. To not do so would require families to also be incarcerated for the crimes of one family member, or for laws to not be enforced due to a criminal having a family.

All of the incidents, which are drawn from complaints filed with a Department of Homeland Security watchdog agency and obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, took place between 2009 and 2014, under the Obama administration.
“The records show that the leadership at Customs and Border Protection were well aware of the allegations of unlawful child abuse — including people still now directing the agency — yet there is no indication that any individual official was ever held accountable for abuse,” Mitra Ebadolahi, a staff attorney with the Border Litigation project and the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties, wrote.
One Border Patrol agent ran over a teenager with a patrol car, then punched the teen in the head and body multiple times.
These incidents, Ebadolahi wrote, are “part of a pattern of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by Customs and Border Protection officials against child immigrants.
- Another called a child a “she-male,” adding, “These people just come here to get a sex change operation.”
- Even though a doctor told a minor who’d recently given birth to keep her premature, four-pound baby away from other people, agents placed the minor inside a “dirty hold room” for two days. The room, the complaint says, “was full of garbage and sick people.”
- Multiple minors said that Border Patrol agents refused to give them milk for their infants. One said her child became sick after agents gave her spoiled milk; agents then refused to give her medicine for two days.
- A 15-year-old also said an agent touched her thigh, just days after she saw the same agent put his hand between the legs of another female detainee.
