If you have to use force to change a democratic election, then it is no longer democracy.

Unless the actual results of an election are allowed to stand, the election is pointless.

Forcing your way is not the will of the people.

Agreed. Trump attempted a coup. Both he and his supporters should face justice for their actions against We, the People and our Constitution.

Not a lawyer, but my understanding is that there's not a specific charge of "insurrection" in the penal code.

Regardless if we call Trump a pedophile or a kiddie fucker, he was one in the 1990s and I strongly doubt he'll ever be charged for those crimes. Does that mean Trump isn't a pedo? No. It just means he's an unconvicted pedophile.

Because the prosecutors know full well they could never prove insurrection because Jan 6 wasn't an insurrection. It was a riot. They'd have an easier time charging those that put up the CHOP / CHAZ in Seattle with insurrection than anyone on Jan 6.

Fuck Seattle. Anyone claiming a riot in Seattle is the same as a planned overrun of Congress to murder the VP and the Senate is being dishonest or stupid.

Declaring yourself and a chunk of land, no matter how small, no longer a part of the United States and now your own nation like the CHOP /CHAZ did is classic insurrection. That's what the Confederate states did.

It is very difficult to prove they intended to overthrow the government. After all, Trump was still president and I don't think they wanted to overturn the presidency.

Some have been charged with assault on a federal law enforcement officer which has a longer sentence than insurrection.

My understanding is that evidence is indicating it was a planned event and that Trump was involved.

I have no idea what "CHOP /CHAZ" is because I don't give a fuck about the Left Coast.

Again, WTF does that have to do with the plot to overthrow the Capitol, murder specific elected reps and overturn both the election and our Constitution?

Treason would be impossible to prove. They have to give aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war.

I think a jury would be less sympathetic to assaulting a peace officer than insurrection. All 691 arrested have already been charged but I think they are still seeking the identify of some. 105 have entered guilty pleas.
