Insurrection: Revolting Against Civil Authority Or Government

The insurrection was not justified.

All 50 state elections went through a very secure process of verification.

There was ample chance and opportunity to present any evidence to challenge the election results.

All the evidence was heard and rejected as insufficient.

The time to challenge the results expired. No valid challenges were presented.

President Biden won the election.

January 6th was simply the culmination of misinformed people, who think they can make up their own facts, running smack into reality. Attacking the capitol was illegal. The people who did that became lawbreakers the moment they crossed the police lines. The perpetrators are being tried and sentenced. None of them have been found innocent. They are all guilty of crimes and they are going to pay the price.

Trump Party candidates are courting dangerous lies to get support and votes. It is hard to believe there will not be more violence. Rumors, lies and falsehoods are taking their toll on society.

What people need to do is learn how to vet information so they don't get taken in by fake news.

Most of the Trump Party believes fake news. That's what gets them in trouble. They are out of touch with reality.

The country would be a lot better off if people learned how to tell the difference between real information and fake news. Much of the narrative in the Trump Party is simply not true. It doesn't matter how many times a lie is repeated. It is still a lie. A lie is a lie.

The Big Lie is still not true.

Anybody who clings to The Big Lie is headed for great disappointment.

We have to live in the real world. We can't make up our own 'alternative facts.'

The fact is that Trump lost. People need to accept it and get over it for the good of America.

the evidence proves that the election was stolen, its not my opinion, its fact. no police were attacked or killed by the people in the capital on Jan 6. the only person killed was an innocent unarmed female veteran who was threatening no one but was murdered by a capital cop. Then the cop was let off by our corrupt justice system, the same system that planted FBI agents, and Antifa and BLM radicals in the crowd to stir up violence. Look up False Flag operation if you want to understand Jan 6.

Jesus, kid. Get help before you get yourself arrested for killing or attacking Americans.

Even Pence condemned the violence. I guess that's why you white supremacist nutjobs wanted to kill him.

Coming from someone who believes the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, it doesn't surprise me you believe other Qless things.

I believe that which is proven. Vote fraud and Biden corruption have both been proven. You may continue to wallow in the pig slop fed to you by the lying media but the truth will prevail in the end, it always does.

I have no idea who/what Qless is, but clueless certainly applies to you.

You claimed that there were police injured and killed by the people on Jan 6. Give us the names and specifics or STFU and stop lying. Why did this happen just as congress was about to hear evidence or vote fraud in several states? Pence was scared shitless and did not do his constitutional duty. The false flag operation worked just as the dems, chinese, and deep state planned.

It was an attempted coup and I have no doubt the evidence will bear that out.

Dude, all you are proving is that you are a violent nutjob. I'm good with local law enforcement, state LEO's and the Feds tracking down all violent anti-American domestic terrorists and bringing them to justice. YMMV

At least 17 police officers remain out of work with injuries from the Capitol attackNearly five months after the January 6 Capitol riot, at least 17 police officers remain out of work due to injuries sustained during the attack.

At least 10 Capitol Police officers were out with injuries as of Thursday, according to a source on Capitol Hill and at the police union, while as of Friday, seven members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police force remained in a "less than full duty status" due to the events of the riot, a police spokesperson said.

In total, more than 150 officers were injured in the attack: 86 Capitol Police officers reported injuries, the sources said, along with 65 members of the Metropolitan Police Department, Chief Robert Contee testified in January. Contee also said that even more D.C. police officers sustained injuries they "did not even bother to report," including scratches, bruises and eyes burned from chemical spray.

It's very sad and tragic for America, the disconnect between the Trump Party and the truth.

The teller of the Big Lie is the main one to blame.

I have no doubt, in a year or so when the investigation is complete, that the reading will be fascinating. :)

Hello Dutch,

One huge sad part of this is the number of people who are willing to destroy their good life over The Big Lie.

Too bad.

We still need to lock up the offenders.

Some are just mentally ill. All of the Qanon followers have gears slipping as exemplified by exactly what you posted: people who are willing to destroy their good life over The Big Lie.

Notice that all of the JPP RWers are big on talk, but refuse to do anything that destroys their own lives. Sure, they talk big on JPP, but they'll never lift a finger that might get them in trouble.

It's one thing to post 100 times on JPP "Stop the Steal", but it's another thing to attack a police officer.

Yes, and the words are dangerous because they encourage others to act.

It is best to ignore those who post hatred. Giving them any attention only empowers them.

If everybody simply ignored them they would be left talking to themselves. They would get less out of it, eventually quit.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to Darth Omar? Last activity at JPP on 9-29.

Not that Darth was so hateful. He was always polite to me. Even if his ideas were all wrong. And he didn't post racist nonsense.

I don't know where he is, but given that all anti-mask/anti-vax eventually get sick, that 1.5% of them die and another 25% have some form of Long Haul Covid, I'd say the odds are good he's recovering from COVID and will be back later.

OTOH, he could have been one of the nutjobs arrested for terrorism but illness is more likely for people on JPP.

Yup. Illness sounds more likely. I wish him well.

Hello Flash,

Weeny prosecutors going after the easy things to prove. They should all be hauled into one mass trial, all of them charged with insurrection. What they did meets the definition of the word used in the description of the crime in US Code. What more do they need?

It would be one big "Not Guilty" verdict for trying to convict everyone of the same crime regardless of their actions. Someone following the crowd into the Capitol but committing no destruction or violent acts is not committing insurrection and would require a not guilty for the entire group.

As I said to Walt, the desire of some posters to punish those attacking the Capitol makes them willing to stretch the meaning of the law.

What is the importance of the "insurrection" charge? Just sounds worse?

History is being written.

It needs to be accurate.

A mob of citizens attacked our own capitol to try to stop our government, force it into mob rule. It was an insurrection. It was a failed insurrection. But it hurt our nation badly just the same. We can't just sweep this under the carpet. It happened. January 6th becomes part of who we are now. We have to be honest with ourselves about what happened.

Disgruntled people attacked the capitol based on lies told to them by the instigator at a speech just prior to the attack, and through media prior to then. Trump assembled the crowd, whipped them up into a frenzy, and pointed them at the capitol. It was obvious it was planned to have this crowd attack the capitol. Most weren't in on the plan. They probably got swept up in the energy. That's too bad, but they are all insurrectionists just the same. As soon as they crossed the police lines, they became guilty. Nobody just followed after the crowd. If they went in, they were part of the crowd. Guilty by association. They should not have been there.

There was lots of propaganda, lots of big talk. These were all the kooks so motivated by the hype that they actually went out there to the rally, and as we have learned, others were already beginning the capitol assault before the crowd incitement was complete. By the time the speech ended and everybody began to move toward the capitol (thinking that Trump was leading the way because he told them he would 'be right there with you,') the crowd became a mob. There was no more direction. Each individual was on his own to try to figure out what to do next, how to 'stop the steal.' The speech didn't include much in the way of instructions for what to do at the capitol. Without leadership, the mob had about as much morals as the least moral among them because there was nobody to stop anyone from doing anything they wanted. It was a mob out of control which descended upon the capitol.

Sent there by Trump.

All true, excepted the "whipped into a frenzy" part, and they are being prosecuted. You cannot change the law to meet your standards for punishment. The story can be told just as truthfully whether they are charged with insurrection or not. If we search we may find some explanations of why they chose not to prosecute for insurrection.

One thought is that it would make martyrs out of people among their supporters. It is hard to call a person a martyr convicted for beating a law enforcement officer.

Did you answer my question of whether the BLM rioters could be charged with insurrection for attacking a federal building. It seemed to be a rebellion against authority.
