My position on the matter hinges on basic logic. If ships can and are sailing through the Strait, then the Strait is obviously open (and not closed). The only "closure" of the Strait is self-imposed due to fear (a lot of it coming from insurers atm).

FastLane is correct to say that the Strait is open. If it were closed, then no ships would be sailing through it. Ships ARE sailing through it, thus it is open. Iran doesn't have the means to stop any ship from sailing through the Strait that wishes to sail through the Strait. The only thing stopping any ship from sailing through the Strait is fear of what Iran *might* do in response.
 
couple of observations

1. Has anyone actually confirmed they have paid 2 mil to cross Hormuz? If any please link the article with the shipping company saying so.

2. The Israelis are outperforming the US in the war with inferior equipment. They have lost 0 aircraft flying over the same skies.
Im also not confident that the US can pull off an operation where 100 targets are all hit within 10 minutes of each other.
