Is an egg a chicken?

The "babies" are pretty much safe after 14 weeks. ;)

Prenatal care is so important...when I was teaching there was a period of time when we had a mobile RV hospital unit that used to come to the school parking lot to make sure the girls were getting care....there's so much that could be done differently in this country....

Even if we do progress the conversation into whether or not a zygotic human or an embryonic human is still human life, it still would not tell you how much I would value such a life so early in its development or what I think should be done with such a life or (especially so) whether I want women (or men who were assigned female at birth) to be forced to incubate an embryo.

I'm not arguing. It wouldn't tell me those things.
If you chose to, you would tell me those things.

Hello Darth,

All eggs aren’t fertilized.

But if a fertilized chicken egg *is a chicken* then it follows that a fertilized human egg is a ________.

Nice argument, but it hinges on a 'fertilized egg' being a chicken.

Even a viable chicken egg is not a chicken until it hatches.

Until then it is nothing but a fertilized chicken egg.

To call that a chicken is an over-simplification of the more precise description: 'fertilized chicken egg.'

If a farmer sent his son to the market with enough money to buy a dozen chickens, and the son came back with a dozen 'fertilized eggs,' it would not be too unexpected for the farmer to discipline his son, and ask him what he did with the rest of the money.

It’s a chicken in the embryonic stage but it’s not a chicken lol?

What is it?

Hello AProudLefty,

It doesn't even make any sense. What exactly do you mean by "chicken"? Once an egg is fertilized, it doesn't even remotely resemble anything even close to a chicken.

As I said many posts ago, an egg will be a chicken just as soon as one flies away on it's own wings.

But to put it in terms the right can grasp, it might be referred to as an 'unhatched baby chicken.'

:chesh:

Which makes about as much sense as counting your chickens before they are hatched.

Scientists are OCD with categorizing organisms. They even created a branch of science dedicated to it: taxonomy.

A fertilized chicken egg contains a chicken [Genus-species] in the embryonic stage of development. That is exactly what science says. Moreover, there’s no debate about it.

What’s ironic is it’s religionists that are accused of mangling science for the sake of an agenda but pro-abortion advocates will engage in any manner of metaphysical somersaults in order to deny something as fundamentally ground in science as when life begins.

They are doing the same thing with the gender identity madness. The dirty little secret is progressives will jettison science the minute it conflicts with their agenda.

And that’s not very progressive.

You said it. It's a species.

I am not aware of anyone doing that. Again the keyword is "being". And there's another keyword: "life".

Not the topic at hand.

A species lol.

There’s a species inside that egg. I’m not sure if my professors back in the day would laugh or cry.

Nope, *the chicken* is in the embryonic stage.

So you keep saying. What exactly does that mean?

Is it "the chicken" once an egg is fertilized? If you look at a picture of one, you wouldn't recognize anything other than the "yolk" you eat for breakfast.

I keep saying it because it’s a fact of science. What would you have me do?

Birds lay lots of eggs because so many are eaten by other birds and varmints. They are food for a large variety and number of critters.
