Part of the problem is that every time there is a conservative push in this country, it is taken over by neoconservatives and we end up using the state to subsidize the military industrial complex in ways that are not healthy for us as nation,.

Your pals just took over 1/6 of the same economy with your massive obamacare. We're really loving it and it's good for America, huh. Lying deranged cockroach.

Still nobody wants to discuss why the IRS deal is a scandal for Obama, yet they don't think this bridge things is a scandal for Christy...?
Who has said it isn't a scandal? What nobody wants to discuss is how obvious your straw man is. You didn't even bother to put clothes on it.

While the left ignores the President saying he's not going to wait for Congress to pass laws so he's basically assuming dictatorial powers...

.... but forget that. The governor of New Jersey may have closed down a lane of traffic. THAT's what the country should get animated about!

The use of executive privilege has been used by every President but one.

Who has sad it isn't a scandal. But here is the difference. Christie can't impact me because I don't live in his god forsaken state. Get it?

You think that's all its about, closing a lane or two?

The President is not assuming any dictatorial powers, he has certain powers by virtue of being president that he said he is going to use.

....and in this you would be correct. There are some "conservative" views that I hold....I like the idea of going back to the gold standard at some point, I like some of the Tea party leaderships idea's about beoming less involved in the whole issue of nation building and becoming more (but not completely) isolationist, about reducing deficits and running a more balanced budget, et al. But those ideas run counter to current Republican thinking. I am strongly in favor of ending most forms of corporate welfare, and of simplifying the tax code greatly.

We have had this issue in our country for a long time. Ever hear of a book called the Imperial Presidency? At some point we need to take a serious look at why things are so badly broken in our country. I will very much agree that there are times that Obama has overstepped his bounds.

He has overstepped his bounds at times, but taking issue with executive privilege just because Obama is doing it is ridiculous, FDR used it over 3,000 times. Congress can overturn them by passing laws or the Courts can rule against them. It is part of the system of checks and balances

Modern presidents use it far more than the earliest Presidents. Washington used it once.

This is small change compared to the Fast and the Furious... Seriously, some cones and nobody dies... Some guns and people have died.

There's much larger fish to fry... the press notwithstanding. This might even shame them into asking some tough questions of a far more scandal-ridden "I never knew anything" politician that they've largely ignored up until now.

Actually a 91 year old woman died in an ambulance that couldn't get across the bridge to deliver her to a hospital. But because she was old it hasn't been widely publicized!

.I like the idea of going back to the gold standard at some point

I was at CPAC in maybe 1989 or 1990. I remember Jesse Helms speaking quite emphatically against returning to the gold standard, and you couldn't get much more conservative than Jesse.

But there are times I too find the attraction of returning to the gold standard alluring....

...and my point wasn't so much about Obama in particular as the presidency in general. And Washington did not have the current level of partisan politics to fight, nor was he running a superpower.

party's change....

you all used to be the party of Lincoln.... now you're the party of Newt and Ted and Rand.....

see how that works?

Its a very sad day for the conservatives when TD is the only one what will address this subject in any attempt at a substantive way.

Not nearly as sad as your dimwitted strawmen. But hey, keep trying. It's fun to watch you remove any doubt what an idiot you are.

;) :high fives:
