Is free will a myth?

Having doubts is human nature and sometimes even believers have doubts; but totally denying is another situation.

And no, I don't believe in death bed absolution.

I have to disagree with you here. I would agree with you, if that someone knew about Christ for several years and waited until he's on his deathbed so he could be spared having to give up his sin and follow Christ. On the other hand, there is what Christ said to the thief on the cross.

Free a subject that has been long debated, even with Christianity itself. Did Calvin agree with Luther? Is free will limited by our nature, that old nature, nurture thing. Do we have free will because we believe we have free will, but are we deceived?

I think it is a question humans will struggle with for some time.

What's going on here is that those who reject God are desperately trying to come up with an excuse for exercising their free will and rejecting God. Well. God ain't buying it. You've made your choice and you will pay the price. That's the truth.

This proves my point about conservative christianity. Free will is sin.

The fact is that there is not always a right and wrong in every decision. Sometimes it is more clear than other times.

Should I kill Ralph because he stole my chickens last week... Clear choice, no. Murder is sin.

Should I kill Ralph who is currently stealing my chickens, the only thing I have to feed my kids... maybe.

Should I marry Sally from down the street or Martha from across the field... No clear choice, your choice.

But the thief wasn't asking for forgiveness for his behavior and instead just asked to be remembered, after he chastised the other thief for mocking Jesus.

I've explained this on my thread of:

My explanation of Free will

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

No, I’ve shown you how free will is a bogus concept.

no......he's right......you've just described exactly what God did.......he made the rules, told people what the consequences of disobedience would be and punished them when they broke the rules........just like you and your kids.......

But the thief wasn't asking for forgiveness for his behavior and instead just asked to be remembered, after he chastised the other thief for mocking Jesus.

actually, he was stating his belief that Jesus was the Christ........for that, he was told he would be in heaven with Christ........

39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was [a]hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving [c]what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come [d]in Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

Can you believe that there are actually idiots who believe this? I can prove that they are wrong. If I take a sledgehammer and destroy their car, they will get mad at me. Think about that.

They can choose whether to have their car repaired or not.
