Is the fair tax act a good idea?

Flat tax is the best policy, because it is fair. That may get the socialists all sad, to hear that those sad poor people might actually have to carry their weight, but it is fair.

And stop with your ridiculous "Rich man tactics"-- a more fair comparison would be how much 10 percent, say, means to a middle class family....because the middle class is the class that gets repeatedly fucked over by taxes--- since neither the rich nor the poor pay anything significant.

Sorry, but we live in a capitalist country--- or, if not, we need to go for socialism and I need to buy my plane ticket out of here. We are trying to accomplish both and many of our society's problems stem from that.

And no, ten percent of a poor person's income is not going to hurt them THAT much, and even if it is decided that the amount of income would make their wages unliveable, it would be easily corrected. All you would have to do is make certain that only a certain, pre-determined wage and anything above it would be taxed, and anything below that would remain much as it is today.

A consumption tax would be fairest of them all then...let each pay for what he uses!

So those with more children would pay more taxes ?
I guess so since they would buy more stuff....

Are you opposed to personal responsibility, or is it the job of the tax payers to support those too stupid to approach reproduction in a responsible manner?

10% hurts a poor person more than a middle class person, and 10% hurts a middle class person more than a rich person. Our goal here is to maximize happiness in the US. Let's be pragmatic, use some common sense.

And how does the middle class get fucked, honestly? The middle class is the whiniest class in the world. They don't live in anything resembling poverty, give less of their income to charity than any other class, get tax brakes constantly because they are the majority, and still have the gall to whine.

Whiniest class ? I would think that to be the upper class. They can afford to pay more taxes without endangering their family. But oh the whining about taxes....

Of curse the middle class comes in a close second on whiney.

I actually don't see much complain from the upper class about their taxes. There are people like Forbes but no one really takes them seriously. Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc... all support even steeper progressive taxation than we already have. Most of the opposition to raising taxes on the rich comes from the middle class.

They whine because they have worked hard their whole lives to get to where they are, but the people trying to help the rich ignore them and the people trying to help the poor tax the hell out of them.

They whine because they are punished for not being poor, and money to them is not as expendable as it is with the rich--- if you cannot understand the plight of the middle class, you have no hopes in politics, even if their plight is (and I'm not saying it is) an imaginary one.

Its about keeping the country a place worth living in. Paying to keep things fair is not evil. Taxes are nothing more than a tool to achieve what we want our country to look like. I like police, fire departments, schools ,roads and bridges and dont consider it evil to pony up my share of achieving this.

Yeah, that's great! You don't pay that through federal taxes though. Federal taxes buy bombs and welfare.

Because somehow they always get labelled as 'rich', for tax purposes.

You are a complete idiot if you think the majority whines more than the minorities.

Yes I do. Anytime the minority says a peep about anything (Gee, guys, I'm being sent to prison for life for owning a pound of marijunia, don't you think that's kind of crazy?) the majority finds it right to whine to high heaven about it, say they are oppressed (ZOMG LOCK HIM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY HE CHOSE IT I HAVE NO SYMPATHY MURDERER!?!/1). Only the majority has free speech.

The majority always gets their way, and complains in the rare instances they don't, like whenever they violate the constitution.

We must live in different countries, because I would certainly disagree with you...the American public walks on eggshells every single day around the delicate sensibilities of the few and hardly ever raises a fuss--- that is why America is ripe for fascism.
