Yes. My President, who happens to be a world-class negotiator, had just announced feeling very confident that a peace deal with Iran was imminent. Why was Trump mistaken? How was Iran schnookering Trump?

Iran is allowed via international treaty to have a nuclear program. Iran just cannot have a nuclear weapon. We can all agree that Iran was pursuing its nuclear program, to establish reactors to create power. Nobody has any evidence that Iran was somehow making a weapon. There is absolutely no evidence of this at all. Trump was negotiating inspections to ensure Iran was remaining focused on its public nuclear power program, which would meet everyone's requirements/assurances that Iran would not be nuking anyone.

Iran was willing to agree to inspections, and gave Trump the general acknowledgement that the deal was entirely workable, but that the details would have to be sorted out. Trump announced this and ... Israel promptly began sabotaging the effort.

On the contrary. If all Iran has is a fission bomb using enriched uranium, then they don't have much. They might nuke part of an Israeli city but that's survivable. They'd need fusion (aka hydrogen) bombs to end Israel as a state.

There are "boosted fission" weapons that have increased yields without being a full-on fusion bomb.
