It was the state attorney's office, not local authorities

You made was one faintly damning comment toward Zimmerman, but you haven't offered any ideas, suggestions, etc. that might show Martin was in the right. And before you go off on some verbal tangent about speculation, not being there, etc. none of us were there. We're all just trying to piece it together from the info that's available.

Martin was 'in the right' about what.......sitting on top of Zimmerman and beating him while Zimmerman yelled for help......?

Thats an eyewitness account.....its not make believe, or opinion, or a guess....its a fact according to a witness.....what gave him that right.....because he was followed ?

that is because i don't know who is right. i thought that was obvious. i have no clue who was in the right or not. there is more speculation about zimmerman right now that martin.

you're grasping at straws and dishonestly portraying my opinion and comments. why haven't you offered a single idea, comment that show zimmerman was in the right?

see how that works?

You're nuts. This thread was going pretty well until you just derailed it with your insults. You're totally incapable of debate when someone goes against your opinion, you default to name calling and make specious claims.

On this thread?

you claimed i resorted to calling you names - "you default to name calling"

did i say martin was? i asked what law says you can't follow "A" suspicious person. you're claiming zimmerman did not have the "right" to follow him. so again, tell me the law that says zimmerman could not follow him if HE thought he was acting suspicious. you claimed it was solely because he was black, then you used his words which showed it was not just that.

stop jumping the gun before you know all the facts. you did the same thing in the loughner matter and ate serious crow for it.

that is the post you quoted. also...what are the specious claims?

now...can you kindly point out where i resorted to name calling as you claim?

Thats interesting....you think the cops are lying ..... the police report is bogus..... the cop that wrote it is lying.....so its really a conspiracy,...... riiiiiighttttt.....

Well, the Chief has stepped aside after the City Council gave him a no confidence vote, and the Sanford police are bing scrutinized, so I guess we will find out what exactly is going on.

He didn't "stalk" the kid, he followed him......he didn't "hassle" the kid, he didn't even talk to the kid......

Wtf do you think a "neighborhood watch" does if not watch whats going on in the neighborhood......

Talk about " twisting yourselves into pretzels"....thats exactly what you pinheads are doing to judge and convict Zimmerman by making up stories and repeating bullshit like it was all fact.......you just can't wait for the investigation to play out ..... you ignore an eyewitness to the beating ......why is that ?

Yes, he did talk to the kid. He asked what he was doing around there. And I'm ignoring nothing, even if it came from Faux news. There was an eyewitness who didn't see which one started the confrontation, just that he saw them both on the ground. "... the man who does not want his identity revealed says that when he came upon the fight, Zimmerman was on the bottom and he was the one yelling for help."

I think a "neighborhood watch" is supposed to "watch", Popeye. Watch, and call the authorities if they think something's suspicious, not take the law into their own hands.

 I repeat. Are you asking me if you called me names on this particular thread?

Sanford has a history of racial tension. This is just the latest.

March 22, 2012 In Sanford, Fla., historic wrongs against the local black community go back a long way. The memory of those events is still fresh, and they are getting another airing in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting, which protesters have called racially motivated...

Author Valada Parker Flewellyn collected stories for the book Images of America: African Americans of Sanford. She says in 1946 baseball legend Jackie Robinson was run out of town during spring training. Local authorities did not want to see blacks and whites playing together...

"When Jackie Robinson came out onto the field, the sheriff's department came and protested that the game would not start," Flewellyn says. "So he had to be escorted away from Sanford, and they took him to Daytona."

He only asked him, after Martin exhibited thuggish behavior and confronted Zimmerman.

there was racism in the 40's and 50's...shocking i tell you...i'm sure no where else in america had racial issues back then.

why is it always about race when the victim is black?

And then that makes painting Zimmerman, with a broad brush, OK?

my sympathies lie with the dead teenager who will never be able to defend himself

perhaps we will never know why zimmerman popped a cap in martin

if zimmerman had not been carrying, and chasing down martin when he could have shadowed martin from a distance, martin would still be alive

the following is pure conjecture - i think that martin told zimmerman off and the one thing that zimmerman craved was respect, so bang

zimmerman probably got in over his head and did not know what to do but shoot martin

And I think you're just projecting your own idea of what you would have done, onto Zimmerman and trying to make it look like he's the only one that could do anything wrong in this case.

perhaps, but the simple truth is zimmerman is alive and martin is dead and nothing can change that

that and the fact that if zimmerman had let trained police hamdle the situation, odds are that martin would still be alive

And you have no proof that Martin would still be alive; but it sounds good when you're biased.

i would wager that martin would not have mouthed off to a uniformed cop while i suspect that he would have to someone in civilian garb that demanded to know why he was there

three things stand out

zimmerman did not let the cops do their job and tried to do a job he was not trained for

he brought the gun to the situation

martin was in a public area not on private property in that he was not in anyone's yard

Three things do stand out.
Martin was in an area that he doesn't live in and ran, like a thug.
He was licensed to carry the firearm.
Zimmerman was also in a public area and Martin shouldn't have tried to take his gun, like a thug.
