I think this is a key point that people do not understand.

No one needs to have the same tastes, likes, or dislikes. But to try and make it sound as though your tastes are right, and everyone else's are wrong is either serious egotism or serious inferiority complex at work.

Probably the latter of the two. Why else would it matter so much that other people like different things?
