I know it’s a long time away, but the way I look at it if things don’t change dramatically and he is dumb enough to run it looks like he would get the Republican nomination. Especially if he has more than one opponent, splitting the anti-trump vote. At least 40% of Republican primary voters are strongly in Trump’s camp, right?

The main part is doing his best to help the Democrats win in 2024 if he doesn't run and 2028 if he does run and wins. The odds favor the Republicans taking Congress this fall. Smart people look ahead to see what's coming and if a course change is necessary.
With any president it’s dangerous to make predictions assuming logic over ego.

I imagine if Trump got charged convicted and imprisoned that his most ardent followers would not be fazed. Fortunately, there are not enough of them to win elections. They need to get some of the one with more of a sense of morality to do that.
There is a tendency here to think Trump supporters are all the same. Stereotyping is a very common mistake in these forum discussions, see it constantly. That doesn't make them all the same. Sure, there are very common traits, but those are not shared by everyone. People do have different reasons for supporting whomever they support.
If Trump goes to prison, he is going to lose some support. Since he needs all the support he can get, and cannot afford to lose much of any at all, going to prison would make the difference.
And, of course, there is always the possibility that Trump would be convicted of insurrection, which would bar him from holding any public office, ever.
His family belongs behind bars, too.

Do you think it's logical for Biden not to run for a second term? When he won the nomination that was what I hoped for, especially when he chose Kamala. But then Trump got millions more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016. Millions more votes after destroying the country and conducting himself in a manner that only the truly committed dimwits could not see how corrupt he is. So that shocked me and also taught me something. What I want is not always what I need. I wanted Kamala/Beto. But they may very well have lost. What America wants is an old white man. I mean, they can't get off that old white man D. We had Trump, Biden, and Bernie as the big three. That's like hell to me! Without Tom Ellis, and nobody wants hell without Tom Ellis.
Anyway, in the end, the base of my party got it right. I am grateful the base of my party are black Americans, they chose wisely. Because I personally could not do another 4 years of Trump. Biden was not my first choice, but with what's happening with Russia, I see he was the best choice. I don't care what the morons here say, I've rarely read stupider thoughts than the things posted on this board (and I'm on Twitter!) I personally trust Biden on foreign policy, and I'm glad now that he is in the WH for this. We will see what happens, but I have no problem with him running for reelection. I know he's old, and I don't really like that so many of our choices are over 70, but it is what it is. For me Biden is, meh, not really what I ordered, or desired, but then I tried it on, and you know what? It works.

Those who attempted to violently overthrow our government on 1/6 are self-entitled, immature assholes who deserve scorn if not imprisonment for their actions.
I refused to support Warren in 2020 because to me, she is one-dimensional. She knows nothing about FP, and that is a big issue for me. And that was before Putin invaded Ukraine, now it's even more important to me. The thing about Warren is not only does she have no experience in FP, I don't feel she can learn. She's too one-dimensional. Like if I look at someone like Pete, who I LOVE, he can learn. He is not one-dimensional.
And I disagree about Harris. If Biden doesn't run in 2024, and I personally feel that is a big if, I would love to see a Harris/Beto or Harris/Buttigieg tic.
