I've Asked, and Seen Nothing but Avoidance

Fuck You Too
What IS the mission of government? I've asked this question several times, and all I see is people AVOIDING the question.

CLUE: What you feel THE Government should NOT do, is NOT an explanation of what you think A government's mission should be, in general.

Honestly, too many of you are too afraid to answer the question honestly, because you KNOW that you are unwilling to accept the REAL consequences of your ideologies.

The mission of government is to provide for the physical saftey and security of it's citizens, through police and the courts. It also exists to provide for the protection of an individuals liberty and inalienable rights.

Blow me, I'm not afraid to answer your dumbass facetious questions.

also you should try having sex sometime. No, that's not a logical fallacy because I am not attacking your arguments via your lack of a sex life. I'm saying THAT for your own good.

The government is what it is, AC. It has no "mission'.

There is no definitive answer to your question and I guarantee that you don't have it either. What you have is your perspective of what government's role should be .. and I'm smelling that you're libertarian so your perspective probably doesn't make much sense.

If you want a real discussion on the subject perhaps you should post your perspective first then ask if other agree or disagree. I doubt if anyone is afraid of your question, but the way you've posed it is kinda' goofy.

He was a socialist...

Came back after a long abscence, heaping praise on the Libertarian party, but never really allying himself with it. But now he's critiscized the LIbertarian party as the party of anarcho-capitalists...

I'm a socialist, but I still believe in government.

I never was a socialist, and I never heaped praise on The Libertarian party.

I am, and have been longer than this board, or its predecessors, a civil libertarian, and fiscal moderate.

To answer you, BAC, this is what I think the core mission of government should be (also, everyone here needs to realize that I asked about the mission of government in general, not the mission of OUR government)

"To establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty for everyone."

I should amend the statement I made in the title of this thread. I've also seen a lot of insults.

Once again, the reason why so many refuse to lay it down...what they feel the core mission of government SHOULD be, is because they want to SEEM more reasonable than their ideologies allow.

It's because we have answered this same question on myriad boards with little or no memory from the person/persons who have asked it.

I believe that the role of government should be to ensure the maximum amount of liberty while protecting the rights of all, to secure the common defense, and to protect the "domestic tranquility" that the Constitution speaks of.

I can respect someone who does not seek to "promote the general welfare", and admits it. I cannot respect someone who doesn't seek to do as such, while claiming such a goal.

This is why I despise much of the Republican Party, and their mirrors in The Libertarian Party.

Say what you MEAN. Mean what you SAY.
