There's that word again. Killing. Which is what Mr. White did. That's what makes him a killer.

Here's the NY penal code on the subject:

§ 125.15 Manslaughter in the second degree.
A person is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree when:
1. He recklessly causes the death of another person; or
2. He commits upon a female an abortional act which causes her death,
unless such abortional act is justifiable pursuant to subdivision three
of section 125.05; or
3. He intentionally causes or aids another person to commit suicide.
Manslaughter in the second degree is a class C felony.

The kid tried to take the gun away, in the struggle, it went off....hence the ruling.

I posted a link to a news story. You don't like the title, yet I've shown you that the term "killer" has been used numerous times in an accurate description of Mr. White.

Our troops in the Sniper Recon units have a motto...'one shot, one kill'.

3rd Platoon, Killer Troop, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, USA isn't shy about calling theselves 'killer".

Perhaps they need your counseling. Feel free.

You are welcome to use any language you like in any post, as you already knew when you made that straw-man argument.

the only problem with this whole situation is that 12 idiots couldn't find it within themselves to believe in self defense without first having to 'retreat'. fuck that state and fuck those people. nobody should ever have to retreat on their own property.

this has always been an intense issue regarding self defense. the law, or government, tries to make killing in self defense a last resort...hence...if you can retreat, you should, as that would be preferable to killing someone. i think the line is heavily blurred around "can" retreat. unless you're in your house and you believe your life or those around you lives are in imminent danger

Apparently owning an illegal gun was a bigger issue that the killing, according to the text of the reports I've seen.

But maybe he should have spoken to the parents of victim Daniel Cicciaro Jr. before announcing his decision. "In retrospect, I would have sought the family's input," Paterson said today, after speaking with the Cicciaro family for nearly an hour about the situation.

Cicciaro Jr. and a group of friends—all of them white—gathered outside of John White's home in Miller Place on Long Island because they thought, based on a online message, White's teen son Aaron had threatened to rape a girl at a paper (the threat turned out to be written by another teen pretending to be Aaron White).

The group allegedly used racial epithets, and White, who is black, claimed he was reminded of a lynch mob and took his gun to tell the teens to leave. But White's gun went off—he says by accident—and Cicciaro Jr. was dead. (But not "killed")

White was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 2-4 years, which Ciccaro's family felt was woefully short.

Nevertheless, Paterson says talking to the grieving parents ahead of time wouldn't have changed his mind about commuting White's sentence, though he did add that, "There were some issues raised by Mrs. Cicciaro-Marks that I will be thinking about over the holidays."

White served 168 days of his sentence and said, "It's a blessing" that he was freed. Newsday took this video of his return home:

not even close. too many times, government (law enforcement) says to the average person that they are either not qualified or not competent enough to defend themselves and their property. what they are really trying to do is ensure job security.

And when you have a major newspaper refer to our troops as "killers" or YOU start a thread saying "killers in Afghanistan.." and then post a story attaching that attribute regarding US troop actions, THEN maybe you might have a point.

Awww, poor widdle Bravo got his ass whupped by me so many times that he has to jump on Mojo's bullshit wagon for sympathy and support.

Pity NEITHER of these jokers have the guts or the honesty to debate the issue rationally.

Bravo AGAIN proves my point regarding his kneejerk bigotry. Bravo FIRST hypothesized if the situation was 'reversed', and some negative claptrap about the outcom....and I laid out the "reverse", which was just changing the races of those involved.

No response from Bravo, but now we get another bit of suppostion and conjecture from him.....another one with the black man in the negative.

Bottom line: the man got a sentence of 2nd degree manslaughter.....for defending his family against a bunch of beer fueled yahoos out to beat a black kid for some alleged afront to a white girl (gee, when have we heard THAT one before). The man comes out of his house with a gun...and the jackasses DIDN'T LEAVE. Struggle, guns goes off....hence the ruling.

Bravo is just another dumb cluck who can't contain his prejudices.
