Vice President Joe Biden says "it's time that we gotta figure a way to deal with this senseless, senseless violence."
I agree.
Rightwing nutjobs threaten to kill government officials, massacres occur over and over.
The 2nd amendment was intended to allow states to set up a militia. The time for that is past.
Why should the profits of the gun lobby prevent Americans from joining other civilized nations in ridding our land of a dangerous scourge - the gun?
When will you understand the concept:When will America wake up to the fact that is is time for total gun control: now. Not tomorrow. Not a week from tomorrow. Next month. Next year.
Now.
When will we learn from the series of tragedies that recur, like the shootings of the Pittsburgh policemen.
Then there is the Binghampton tragedy killing thirteen innocent people.
Jiverly Wong had been told he had the right to bear arms, unfortunately the thirteen people he killed have been deprived of life.
The Columbine killers were told they had a right to bear arms and deprived 12 Columbine students and a teacher of their life. The father of a Columbine victim, Tom Mauser, has been lobbying for sensible gun control legislation.
"Two weeks before the tragedy at Columbine, my son Daniel, who was in a debate class, asked me at the dinner table if I knew there were loopholes in the Brady bill. I just said, 'No I didn't know that,' and that pretty much was the end of the conversation," Tom Mauser of Littleton, Colo., told the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. "I was shocked, then, when my son was killed with a gun bought through one of those loopholes in the Brady bill," Mauser said. "I discovered that someone bought that gun and two other guns at a gun show from an unlicensed private seller to avoid creating a paper trail and having to undergo a background check."
Mauser spoke in favor of a bill to require that a national instant criminal background check be performed before the sale or transfer of a firearm at a gun show. The hearing on that and other bills to tighten Maine's gun sales laws came days after multiple shootings in Binghamton, N.Y., Pittsburgh and Graham, Wash.
America is falling asleep and must wake up and stop allowing death lovers and the NRA to control our laws.
When will you understand the concept:
"Those who give up essential liberty for security deserve neither."
By banning guns and addressing the root causes of crime (racism, poverty, injustice) we gain freedom from fear.
No more cowering in our homes like the gun nuts listening for the knock at the door, the breaking glass that strikes such terror in their hearts.

I've already proved you're lying on this point. you're a liar. a dirty rotten democrat liar. The 2nd amendment was intended to allow states to set up a militia. The time for that is past.

so you're quite content with knife murders, ball bat murders, running people over in cars.....Without guns there would be no gun murders.
numerous USSC decisions have opined and stated that the rights listed in the bill of rights are not constrained by devices available in the years that they were written. Now, as to the so-called "right" itself: When the 2nd amendment was written, "arms" referred to single-shot muskets and cannons. There wasn't any such thing as a revolver, high powered rifle, a machine gun, or even a semi-automatic pistol.
There were no tanks, no missiles, no nukes.
So, you don't have the "right" to any of those things!
nothing in the bill of rights or the constitution gives me a right and it certainly doesn't tell me i have a right to be in a militia. I am in a militia by virtue of being an American, just as you are.The 2nd amendment to the US Constitution gave you this "right" to be part of a "well-regulated militia".
no it can't. The 2nd Amendment doesn't 'grant' a right, it recognized a pre-existing right and protects it.Another amendment could change that. Just because you claim to have a "right", that doesn't prevent that right from being regulated.
so why are you against it?In fact, the 2nd amendment specifies that your right to own arms is tied to the need for a "well-regulated militia".
any law that violates the constitution is repugnant, therefore null and void. All that the government you fear so much has to do is to start making rules and regulations about "militias" and you would have to obey those regulations.
Without guns there would be no gun murders.
If gunlovers aren't all crazed murderers, then you should want to get rid of your guns because they are more likely to get you or your family killed than they are likely to kill anyone else.
Given these facts, you'd have to be insane to want a gun.

Furthermore, the idea that the goverment can do nothing about your "right" is lame.

Without humans guns wouldn't exist. Maybe you should make a law.Without guns there would be no gun murders.

You admit that you cling to your guns because you 1) fear an attack by criminals or 2) by your political masters.
Fearful people are cowards.
Odd thing I notice - the screaming minority that believes gun ownership is a 'right' this country granted them to protect themselves use stupid rhetoric that proclaims that they would be willing to take up those arms against their own country.
People who fight their own government are traitors.
How is it possible that any society tolerates and defends, as a 'right', a product that is responsible for one death every 12 minutes of every hour of every day of every month - every single year?
Fearful people are cowards.
