Pollock v. Farmers’ Loan & Trust Co., 157 U. S. 429, 652 (1895) (White, J., dissenting) (“The fundamental conception of a judicial body is that of one hedged about by precedents which are binding on the court without regard to the personality of its members. Break down this belief in judicial continuity and let it be felt that on great constitutional questions this Court is to depart from the settledconclusions of its predecessors, and to determine them all according tothe mere opinion of those who temporarily fill its bench, and our Constitution will, in my judgment, be bereft of value and become a mostdangerous instrument to the rights and liberties of the people”).

DNC advocates the above and his views are dangerous to this country

I support the Judiciary Act of 2009. Judiciary acts are not written for all time and President Obama has the votes he needs to reform the Court..

It will allow President Obama and Congress to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice every two years without forcing the retirement of sitting justices, rotate the position of Chief Justice and allow the court to decide cases it normally would not by placing the decision for which cases are heard in the hands of lower court judges.

wow, you can't even read supreme court decisions correctly. If you read both majority and dissents, you'll notice that ALL 9 justices agreed that the right to bear arms is an individual right. The dissent is about whether the 2nd protects that right or the 9th does.

also realize that by reducing the citizens last constitutional branch of protection from an encroaching central government, you're promoting the second revolution.

i read this in the dissent:

As used in the Second Amendment, the words “the people” do not enlarge the right to keep and bear arms to encompass use or ownership of weapons outside the context of service in a well-regulated militia.

dissent p. 11

nice, another court packing scheme. when you can't get what you want through persuasion, you'll ram it through with force. Are you really that intent on starting another civil war?

wtf??? that is a stupid act then...you're going to end up with dozens of judges...you're a danger to this country

which should tell anyone with half a brain just how ignorant the liberal justices are, to believe that 'the people' mean an individual in the bill of rights, except for the 2nd Amendment.

How many times has your life been threatened? I'll tell you how many times my life has been threatened. Precisely zero. Not at all. Nada. Nix. Never. But then I do not live in America.
As far as protecting my life and those of my loved ones is concerned, I guess I would do whatever was in my power as would most people. That would not include buying a gun or as sometimes is the case in the US, an arsenal on the million to one off-chance that I was attacked by one of the very very few people who are mentally deranged and gun toting.
I would say the best thing you could do would be to move to a safer neighbourhood.... no no no... please do not come here!

And this means you are now certain that you life will never be threatened?

I have had my life threatened blatantly twice. Once was the jealous ex of a girl I was dating and once was because I was in a bad neighborhood due to my work. Neither situation was something I caused, but both were situations that could have easily turned lethal.

As for an arsenal, my wife has a gun that is pretty much only for defense, and I have one. The rest of my firearms are for hunting or target shooting.

Hunting is murder. And it's obscene. And it's funded with your taxes.

In 1971, there were about 500,000 deer in Michigan, but that wasn't enough to appease the hunting community. So the DNR decided to change Michigan's "old forest" situation by instituting the Deer Range Improvement Program.

DRIP clear-cut 1.2 million acres of forest to create a more accessible food supply for deer and further stimulate reproduction.

Add to this the disproportionate number of licenses issued to kill male deer and you have a major increase in numbers. Killing male deer increases the herd by causing the females' internal reproductive mechanisms to go haywire, resulting in the births of twins and triplets. Any wildlife biologist notpaid off by the "hunting" community will attest that this is a fact.

The DRIP program and buck-hunting caused the deer herd to reach two million last year, an increase of 1.5 million since 1971. That makes the hunting community solely responsible for the increase in deer-car collisions.

Here's what Dave Arnold, a DNR executive, said: "Don't lose sight of the purpose of the (DRIP) program. When the DNR decided several years ago to try and increase the herd to about one million animals, we knew the auto collision rate and crop damage would rise."

You have yet to cite a source for your quote of two animals being wounded for every animal killed by hunters.

You have continually posted information as though it was fact, when it is as bogus as can be. So unless you want to cite sources, I'm calling it bullshit.

Yeah, you already told us that 100 people a year die in hunting accidents. And I cited a Dept of Interior study that showed over 20 million people are active hunters.

A fatality rate of 0.0005% is pretty low.

The cowboy culture of the gunlover needs to be excised from America.

See, now this is where I feel perfectly justified in saying "Fuck You, you spineless, meddling, know-nothing twit".
I am not some wild west cowboy looking for a shootout. I am a law abiding citizen who makes sure every firearm activity I am around is as safe as can be. The total number of firearm murders, suicides, accidents, and mysterious occurrances to not come to 0.1% of the number of LEGAL gun owners in this country.

And you want to ban them because you THINK things will be safer because of your heroic deeds.

You have even said that there would be no murders if there were no guns.

President Obama has as much power to shape a new court as Ray-gun.

President Obama could appoint as many as six new justices before he is confirmed for his second term on Inauguration Day 2013.

John Paul Stevens, 88, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 75, are old, and Ginsburg is a colon cancer survivor.

David Souter, 69, said he wants to go home to New Hampshire.

Kennedy, who has twice had minor heart procedures, is 72, as is Scalia.

That will give the real Americans the chance to take back what the neo-cons stole.

Many animals suffer prolonged, painful deaths when they are injured but not killed by hunters.

A member of the Maine Bowhunters Alliance estimates that 50 percent of animals who are shot with crossbows are wounded but not killed.

A study of 80 radio-collared white-tailed deer found that of the 22 deer who had been shot with “traditional archery equipment,” 11 were wounded but not recovered by hunters.(8) Twenty percent of foxes who have been wounded by hunters are shot again; 10 percent manage to escape, but “starvation is a likely fate” for them, according to one veterinarian.

A South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks biologist estimates that more than 3 million wounded ducks go “unretrieved” every year.

A British study of deer hunting found that 11 percent of deer who’d been killed by hunters died only after being shot two or more times and that some wounded deer suffered for more than 15 minutes before dying.

Hunting disrupts migration and hibernation patterns and destroys families. For animals like wolves, who mate for life and live in close-knit family units, hunting can devastate entire communities.

The stress that hunted animals suffer, caused by fear and the inescapable loud noises and other commotion that hunters create, also severely compromises their normal eating habits, making it hard for them to store the fat and energy that they need in order to survive the winter.

The death toll from the shooting in Binghamton, New York, totaled 14. The
gunman could not have done this with a knife.

Gunlovers are just that, lovers of guns.

They say they're preparing for an emergency, or the breakdown in society which they feel is inevitable.

For years these testosterone fueled idiots have been blindly following a president who subverted the constitution, are now arming themselves and making idle threats because of what they fear the new President might do.

Good, now you are quoting actual information.

But what you said before was that 2 animals are wounded and get away for every one animal that is taken. Where is the citation for that quote?? Or were you just talking out your ass??

50% of animals shot with a crossbow go unretrieved. Ok, that tells me two things. #1 - There are some really worthless hunters in Maine. #2 - That you are stretching your facts and working really hard to avoid being pummelled with your making stuff up.

Now, lets address some other problems with your info.

Wolf hunting is only legal in Alaska. But in Canada it is legal in all the provinces (I think). Ontario has a yearround open season on wolves. So much for the barbarism of the americans.

"The stress that hunted animals suffer, caused by fear and the inescapable loud noises and other commotion that hunters create, also severely compromises their normal eating habits, making it hard for them to store the fat and energy that they need in order to survive the winter".

Now you are telling me that hunting is bad because it causes stress?
WTF? So living in the wild is stress-free? But the small amount of gunfire heard during a limited season is stressful enough to hinder their ability to survive? The loud noises of which you speak can only be gunfire. As for the other commotion, I cannot imagine anyone causing LESS of a commotion than hunters. The whole idea of hunting is to SNEAK into the would and remain as still and as quiet as you can while you either wait, or stalk.

"A study of 80 radio-collared white-tailed deer found that of the 22 deer who had been shot with “traditional archery equipment,” 11 were wounded but not recovered by hunters.(8)"

I am sorry, but a sample of 80 from a population for 14 to 20 million is not statistically significant. I can give you a list of 50 names of hunters that have never lost a wounded animal.

"A British study of deer hunting found that 11 percent of deer who’d been killed by hunters died only after being shot two or more times and that some wounded deer suffered for more than 15 minutes before dying."

I would explain this as ample evidence that british hunters are lousy shots. And would lay that squarely at the feet of the peopl ewho confiscated their guns, making it impossible to practice.

PITTSBURGH – A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. Friends said he had been upset recently about losing his job and that he feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Three officers were killed, said a police official at the scene who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Police spokeswoman Diane Richard would only say that at least five officers were wounded, but wouldn't give any other details.

Police planned to release more details at a mid-afternoon news conference Saturday.

The man who fired at the officers was arrested after a several-hour standoff. One witness reported hearing hundreds of shots.

The shootings occurred just two weeks after four police officers were fatally shot March 21 in Oakland, Calif., in the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since Sept. 11, 2001.

Police did not immediately release the gunman's identity, but his friends identified him as Richard Poplawski, 23. They described him as a young man who thought the Obama administration would ban guns.

One friend, Edward Perkovic, said Poplawski feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon." Another longtime friend, Aaron Vire, said Poplawski feared that President Obama was going to take away his rights, though he said he "wasn't violently against Obama."

Perkovic, a 22-year-old who said he was Poplawski's best friend, said he got a call at work from him in which he said, "Eddie, I am going to die today. ... Tell your family I love them and I love you."

Facts just aren't your strong suit, are they, DNC? I guess its easier if you can just make things up and make wild accusations that have no basis in thruth.
