Trump does not, and has not tried to control this, he only commented on it. I think Trump hoped Kimmel would get canned, but he did not control it happening, or it would not have been reversed.

Trump doesn't have the power to control Kimmel getting canned, or rehired.

I too wanted Kimmel to get canned, but for things done long before the assassination.
