L.A. Braces for ‘Explosive Fire Growth’ From Dangerous Winds

It is time to STOP the blame game and start helping these people.
They know what happened and can do something now to fix it.
It is bad enough as it is that the price of building materials is going to go up because of supply and demand now Trump is going to put his tariffs on ( 25% or more ) driving those costs up even more.
Yep lets hurt these people even more.
And with insurance companies pulling out what are these people going to do?
They more then likely won't get what their homes were worth or the cost to rebuild them.
Congress has to get to work and start helping them.

Well said. The disgusting and despicable glee shown by many of our resident MAGATs here -- and elsewhere -- does not speak well of them as human beings. They seem totally clueless that this disaster affects us all whether, as you pointed out, via increased prices for building materials, or higher insurance premiums shared by every one of us. One of our more self-righteous MAGAT twats had to be scolded for pointing fingers while simultaneously "forgetting" to post the usual "thoughts and prayers" and links to donate to help the thousands of fire victims. It shouldn't have taken three days to do so. So much for being Xtians and for supposedly loving this country.

As I said STOP the blame game and lets do something to help these people .
The people of CAL can go back AFTER the fires are out and figure out what happened and fix it so it doesn't happen again.
I am waiting for the Right wing people in CONGRESS to cut the funding to help these people, Some already are talking about it.
If they do it could come back and bite them in the ass when they have a disaster in their states.

STOP the blame game.

Democrats.

California has invested significantly in desalination projects. The state has funded various desalination initiatives, primarily through grants from Proposition 1, which aimed at expanding water supplies. Here's an overview based on available information:

  • Funding for Desalination Projects: California has awarded grants totaling over $82 million from Proposition 1 to support 20 desalination projects. These include both brackish and seawater desalination efforts across different counties like Los Angeles. Some notable projects include the Goldsworthy Desalter system in Torrance. Despite the investment in desalination, there have been significant challenges, including environmental concerns and regulatory hurdles. For instance, a proposed $1.4 billion desalination plant in Huntington Beach was rejected by the California Coastal Commission due to environmental impacts.

It's good that at least some of them realize that none of us are immune from disasters. We are still the UNITED States and should start acting like it.

For the sake of discussion let me ask this. (And I agree the focus should be on helping these folks right now.)

I see in that other thread where people are talking being spiteful to Trump voters, hope bad things happen to them and they'll reap what they sow etc. How is that really any different than here where some are saying those in California are reaping what they sow?

So you admit incompetent leadership allowed it to happen and that it could have been prevented. That is a good start.

I donated to the Red Cross even though I admit I think that California's poor leadership helped exacerbate this problem. And the people of California continue to elect poor leaders. I donated anyway because the kids don't have any choice in who leads them. Hopefully this disaster will serve as a huge wake up call and people will demand better leaders. I realize Californians cannot stop the SA winds but they can remove the brush and better prepare the water system and invest in more fire fighters and equipment. Also better building codes can make structures more fire resistant.

Yes and I also have said IF it was a Republican admin that did the same thing the right wingers would have applauded it and said YES they are cutting the budget and making the government smaller.
It look like to me that they think it would have been a good thing If Republicans would have done it but it was the Dems that did it so it isn't good.

Cool, How's that working out for them?

It is no different. But deflecting to "Well, he did it first" is pretty childish, isn't it?

How long have you been a clairvoyant?

I don't think either of these are a result of 'he did it first'. I think it just speaks to the divide and polarization (almost dehumanization) some/many feel, where people have a 'if you don't vote like me then fvck you and you deserve every bad thing that happens to you' mentality.
