You are a paradox. A politically incorrect librul.

He’s definitely unique in that way. I believe he also said he’s in his mid 70’s. I don’t want to pretend to speak for people in their 70’s but I would imagine they are less concerned or connected to the lingo that the youth use. So they aren’t going to be on the front line for the battle over using correct pronouns etc.

I can't apeak for all Democrats or any Republicans,

but I very much believe in preserving proper grammar and usage in all languages.

Even though English is the second language for the vast majority of bilingual Americans
because too many of the predominantly English speaking ones are so fucking dense compared to most of the civilized world,
it still should matter to speak and write correctly.

Latinx isn't a word, nor does it need to be,
and "woke" as we define it today is an abomination.

What about fucking moron? Is that still a term in your world?

Languages evolve. Unless you believe this is English:

Lo! the Spear-Danes’ glory through splendid achievements
The folk-kings’ former fame we have heard of,
How princes displayed then their prowess-in-battle.
Oft Scyld the Scefing from scathers in numbers
5
From many a people their mead-benches tore.
Since first he found him friendless and wretched,
The earl had had terror: comfort he got for it,
Waxed ’neath the welkin, world-honor gained,
Till all his neighbors o’er sea were compelled to
10
Bow to his bidding and bring him their tribute:
An excellent atheling! After was borne him
A son and heir, young in his dwelling,
Whom God-Father sent to solace the people.
He had marked the misery malice had caused them,
15
1That reaved of their rulers they wretched had erstwhile2
Long been afflicted. The Lord, in requital,
Wielder of Glory, with world-honor blessed him.
Famed was Beowulf, far spread the glory
Of Scyld’s great son in the lands of the Danemen

If you're quoting Germanic Old English, it must still be English.

I can't remember who not to forgive for making me read Beowulf.

Languages evolve....which is why most electronic language setups include both American English and British.

We're allowing a "dumbing down" of English that I personally find offensive enough to reist.
My personal risitence won't stop it, pehaps, but it keeps me righteous and pure which is far more important.

The only way to achieve excellence is the relentless pursuit of unattainable perfection.

Damn, something you and I agree on!

:clink:

You are using the same argument a British aristocrat used against the Yanks perverting his mother tongue.

...and conservative. ;)

You're actually right, Oom.
I'm socially conservative and in some ways outright reactionary.
I speak and dress conservatively.
I play fucking golf, for Christ's sake.

But politically, particularly on economic issues, I'm quite clearly a democratic socialist as I'm sure you can see. :nodyes:

I'm the opposite; fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

We have more definitions than we need in this world.

A proper Bostonian recognizes only two kinds of people.

There are those who agree with us on virtually everything, Quote Thanks Groans Blog this Post

and there are those whom we refer to---and I do admit this is unfortunate--
as "fuckin' retahds."

I love the new T-shirt my daughter bought me.

SURROUNDED BY STUNADS is emblazoned on the front.

"Stunad" is Italian-American slang for "stonato."

"Stonato" literally means "out of tune,"
but it's used that way about as often as "gay" is used to mean "merry.'

It's mostly used to mean, in Bostonese, "fuckin' retahd."

The great thing about the T-shirt is that

I can appropriaately wear it virtually anywhere.

Go pahk the cah, ya fukkin retodd.

Yup. I've noticed. Neither of us is a stereotype.

Fiscally conservative and socially liberal is a Libertarian stereotype.

OTOH, modern politics have kept the names of parties while the parties themselves have changed into something far different than 50 years ago.

Maybe.

What I know is that I'm a hard core lefty whose idea of "freedom" is living well,
not cosplaying as the ruggedly independent Marlboro Man.

If we're not polar opposites, we come fairly close, right?

Why bother me with it? It's your right to live well. It's not your right to live well by harming others.
