Holy sh*t!
This thread really is nothing more than sloganeering. You want to talk about white privilege, well here it is on full display. Polls don’t show majority support for the abolition movement but that’s not what the topic of the thread is. The topic is wokeness. And this movement comes from wokeness. Now I don’t agree with the movement but I’ve read about it and understand intellectually where they are coming from. Yet here you are calling the movement propaganda. Again, one is free to disagree with it but total white privilege to dismiss it as propaganda. That’s the opposite of woke.
TDAK claims there is racism (against whites). Is he woke now?
Hello cawacko,
That view would not be woke. That would be very unwoke.
Hello cawacko,
Oh, hey, classic right wing switcheroo. Make a false accusation that becoming woke is both white privilege and propaganda. And then claim I said so.
SMH
The only thing missing is me saying any of what you're claiming I said.
Naturally you have no quote of me saying it.
Nothing but more straw man building in your version of what I said.
But your version of what somebody else said is your version, not what they said.
I'll gladly take credit for what I said, but I am under no obligation to own up to your version of it.
And, btw, I am disappointed in your post. Not challenging at all. Such elementary failed debate tactics.
Why? It's not like it can't exist.
I'm not following what you are talking about. This isn't even a debate, it's a discussion. I'm not trying to attack you personally but I am saying all you're saying is little more than sloganeering and your reaction to the movement to abolish the police shows me that.
Please Baby Jesus let that be the Democrats slogan in '22. Talk about a landslide...
"Woke" is a conceptual abomination.
I'm going to wish PoliTalker a sincere Happy New Year here.
I can do that becaue he/she/it has me on "ignore" and will never see it.
Hello cawacko,
Sloganeering is a part of politics. And I'm glad to know that we agree the Democrats should use this slogan in 22:
We don't agree on much, so it's good to know we both think this would be a good slogan.
You think there is this wide perception that woke is a bad thing. I think the dictionary definition prevails, so it's a good thing. The only reason conservatives want to try to make it a bad thing is because the left is so woke. But simply saying something is bad doesn't make it so.
Why do you think it's a bad thing for people to be more aware of racial relations in America?
If we want to find solutions, surely we want to learn more information? Become more aware?
... Your reaction to the abolish/reimagine police movement by calling it right wing propaganda ...
Hello cawacko,
False accusation. Quote where I called it that.
Hello cawacko,
False accusation. Quote where I called it that.
Go read your response in Post 254.
Hello cawacko,
I'll do as I please.
You wanna back up your claim, post a quote.
I'm off to other threads.
I don't get what's wrong with being woke.
Merriam-Webster:
" woke adjective
chiefly US slang
: aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)"
Sounds like a good thing!
Surely, being well informed is preferable to being poorly informed...
Any dispute on that? Seems to be pretty straightforward. Knowledge is power. So what's the deal?
It is logical that a society comprised mostly of individuals who are aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues, especially issues of racial and social justice, would be a great society to be a part of. That would result in low crime and minimized hatred, a society where people respected one another and got along fine, happy and content, pleased to be a part of something bigger than them, something really great.
Most people already think America is a great country.
Wanna make America greater?
A woke America would be a greater America.
Let's Go, Get Woke, America!
