Of course it might have helped ID if she had bothered to look up some of the details of the story before condemning anyone.
It now appears as though the affair occured BEFORE Letterman married his longtime girlfriend and had a son.

Yeah, because how you were personally effected means that it doesn't matter as in have a negative opinion or not. It's news, my opinion on the news is that Letterman and the blackmailer are both scum. Both men acted for selfish reasons and neither mens actions effect you...go figure.

When I saw that, I said a woman must be really desperate to have sex with him. Yuck!! ALL men are not like him, believe me.
It is not my quest in life to take a position on the morality of every TV personality's personal life. If this was a "friend" of mine he would no longer be my friend. He isn't. If this were my daughter's boyfriend I would advise her not to marry him. It isn't. If this were illegal and people were looking the other way it would matter. It isn't. (Except the blackmail part that is, but that is being handled.)
He wasn't married, he didn't do this while he was or even while he was a father. It isn't much of a "scandal"... Seriously. There really is no reason for me to give a moral lecture to a man who wasn't married, likely for just such occasion, about the morality of his personal life.
The person who broke the law in this case is being prosecuted.

Adulterous? In which way? He wasn't married, and as far as I know neither was the staffer. It isn't like I watch his show, or I'd have likely known about it before it was reported on the radio this morning, but really.
He's ruined his political career outside of California. That's about it.
No one asked you for a moral lecture. Certainly not Letterman. It was an opinion of mine, much like yours on Polanski. Neither men effects you, but as you note Letterman's scum behavior is not illegal. He screwed another woman while his 20 year reltionship of long time devoted girlfriend, was pregnant. So I made a post airing my opinion (key word here) that it makes him and his blackmailer scumbags...

You're right technically it isn't adultery, I threw that term in for Tom. I am pretty certain that though technically not adultery his significant other saw it as such...even Letterman called what he did having an affair.

Fidelity is not consistent with the male biological imperitive. Only 50k years ago men coupled with many different women. Some men had many because they put meat on the table and protected their mates and their stuff better than others. Women are genetically driven to chose the best provider for their children. Until very recently, about the last 8 or 5k years men all had more than one mate. Monogamy is not natural. It may become natural somewhere along the way, but hundreds of thousands, if not millions of men provide very well for their families and have sexual relationships on the side. Sex doesn't mean much for men outside of the physical aspect. Men can have sex with many women at once and not love any of them. Love and sex are not synonomous nor does one require the other. You may not like that fact but it is true.What stupid BS! He had a wife and a child.
