Collective ownership isn't a requirement for someone to be a socialist. There were a lot of people that truly thought Obama's policies were good. There were just as many, if not more, that voted for him due to his skin color without knowledge of any of his policies.

It's hard to tell, because Trumpsters keep redefining Socialism. I guess it's kind of like "Cultural Marxism" at this point.

Well Democratic Socialism doesn't have collective ownership or totalitarianism. So yeah, that is pretty different from Marxist Socialism.

That's not really a good comparison. Marxist Socialism and Democratic Socialism are different enough to produce entirely different societies.
Compare Norway to North Korea. Those are entirely different societies.

I'd say that Marxist Socialism has collective ownership, no democratic elections, no government transparency, and no checks and balances. It's basically totalitarianism which is why Marxist societies always end up with a dictatorship.

Now Democratic Socialism has private businesses, democratic elections, government transparency, and checks and balances. This is why the countries that have Democratic Socialism have not ended up like the Soviet Union.

In both cases, there is socialism. Putting a different word before it doesn't change that the government has a very, very large amount of control. Therefore, there is no difference in the end.

But in Democratic Socialist countries, the government isn't much bigger than America's. In fact, laws regarding drugs and prostitution are looser in most of Europe.
