I have denied Mahomes nothing, if discussing his race he is no more black than white and that is fact, if he prefers to be considered black that is his preference. If he prefers to be considered white he would be equally correct. I don't care and would root for the guy just the same.

Actually that’s not really the case. If you want to use this board as an example you still have people posting about the need to be woke and they get lots of thanks for it. It was originally a word used by the left until people saw it tilting too far and there was pushback (including from people on the left).

I’ll offer a book recommendation and you are of course free to not read or even tell me to pound sand. The author is John McWhorter and he is a most interesting person. He’s black, has a PhD in linguistics from Stanford, is a professor at Columbia, is the author of multiple books and is a columnist for the New York Times. He’s also a political liberal who hates Trump, is pro environment, is an atheist, etc. but he has heterodox views on racial issues.

He wrote a book called Woke Racism. It’s a great read and gives excellent insight into wokeness in action and its excesses. There’s a dictionary definition of wokeness, which many of us support, then there the real world application which is another story. It gives the reader understanding of why there is pushback so this idea that if you just stop using the word this will go away isn’t reality.
