List of black victims of cop brutality/abuse for committing traffic infractions

I'd like to know too. But like gfm said, it has been settled and the racial profiling charges have been dismissed. What is interesting is that he was stopped TWICE within 30 minutes.

Except that if he had been behaving questionably then it would be expected that two separate law enforcement agencies, a city police department and a highway patrol would pull him over. If he was beligerent in addition then what happened makes perfect sense. I'd like to see the official announcement that "the officers' conduct is not condoned and we will be looking into it" or something indicating that some police officers did something wrong. Apparently the "driving while black" claim was bogus and the profiling charges were dropped ... so that leaves me with essentially zero information, which is disappointing because it leaves me wondering "why is one side of the story being hyped while the other side is on gag order?"

I hate that.

Another interesting thing is that the illegal search lasted for 2 hours and the police threatened to sic the dog on them.

Same here. I would need more information to form my thoughts around, and would rather not just take the dude's word on it... I would especially be interested in more info on the lengthy search that was allegedly performed and why it was performed... seems odd if one is merely being pulled over for allegedly not signaling while changing lanes... I feel like there's more to the story...

But like gfm said, it has been settled and the racial profiling charges have been dismissed.
To be fair, it sounded like the settlement in this case was more or less to save time, effort, and money. The fact that it was settled means rather little to me.

Doesn't surprise me all that much actually.

Well, the alleged lengthy alleged illegal search, anyway... Again, it's unfortunately only one side of the story, and I feel like there might be more to the story than what the dude is saying... unfortunately I don't have the police's account to compare it to...

My generosity has placed this guy's name on the list, but the lack of a police account of the interaction adds a question mark as to whether the name legit belongs on this list or not...

One thing's for sure... if there have been cases of being stopped for driving while black today, it is "practically" zero compared to pre-60s. After 60s, it has gone down. I am not dismissing black drivers' experience. I am sure those cases are largely unreported.

But good thread though.

MIB 3 has a funny scene about driving while black.

Again, this is from the one side of the story. I'm not buying the part about the boy being "terrorized"by the dog and so much of the story was hyped beyond credibility that without at least some corroboration from the police on what happened I have to presume that the police had some sort of reason that is being intentionally omitted.

Trust me, I believe the police sometimes employ excessive force, are sometimes total assholes and sometimes are completely unprofessional ... and I believe many should be fired, i.e. that they are not the right people to be given that kind of authority. I have never seen a jail cell from the inside because I have never been arrested, I am totally boring, I don't break the law and I am never beligerent with cops ... although I am a sarcastic muthrphukk'r when I am nonetheless hassled by cops for absolutely no reason. If they are going to screw with me then I am going to screw with them and goad them into doing something that will hand me a huge lawsuit that will all go to my kids. They always seem to catch on and just "let me go".

With that said, I cannot simply assume it just because someone wrote a hit piece; I need something to corroborate both sides.

Anecdote: Once while I was out for a walk in Tucson I happened to walk by a McDonalds that had a short female cop standing outside. As I walked by she got my attention and said "Sir, I need you to stand over here." I asked "Excuse me, am I being pulled over?" She responded "Yes sir, I need you to stand over here. Can I see some ID?" I responded "Excuse me, are you sexually profiling me? I haven't seen you pull over any females." She said "Sir, I need some ID." I said "I don't have any." She asked me where I was heading and I said "You didn't notice that I was walking in that direction?" She asked "Where are you going?" I answered "Over there." She asked me "Do you have any weapons on you that I need to know about?" I just looked at her, looked down at myself and my shorts and a T-shirt and then looked back at her and asked "Are you joking?" She then said "OK, you can go, but you need to stay over there on the sidewalk." I asked "Do you mean the sidewalk on which I was walking or the sidewalk on which I was walking?" She turned away to do something else.

Most people think they've "seen everything" but only I can legitimately make that claim.

I've had all sorts of interactions with cops during my short life (I made that sound worse than it really is)...

During the Summer flooding of 2008 near my house (water flowing over the road), I was a teenager at the time and was riding the 4-wheeler on the road to where the water was overflowing (it had receded on the parallel road) and getting pictures of it all and what not (for memories), and a cop car comes over and stops by me (I'm thinking, "oh no, does he not like that I am riding the 4-wheeler on the road?") He proceeded to ask me something along the line of if I thought the road closed signage for the parallel road was necessary. I found it to be a rather odd question, but I gave him my opinion and then he went on his way again...

Another time I was driving home at about 9:15pm from my library job and a cop pulled me over and claimed that I was "weaving back and forth" across the center line... I wasn't, but I think he just wanted to check to see if I had been drinking. After a few minutes, he let me go.

Another time I got bagged going 70 in a 55 (I had anxiety issues that day and wasn't really paying attention to my speed or my surroundings). I completely deserved that ticket.

Another time I got caught going 35 in a 25 and failing to adhere to a "no left turn during x hours of the day" sign on my way to my current accounting job in the morning. I told the cop (truthfully) that I didn't even know that there was a sign there, and that I was sorry for not adhering to it. I said (truthfully) that I was only going that way due to the road construction that was slowing down other routes. The cop said people had commonly been doing that and offered up other route alternatives around the construction. He then asked me if I knew how fast I was going. I (truthfully) said no, and that I thought I had been going an acceptable speed. He told me I was actually going 35mph. We had friendly conversation for a while and he went back to his car for a while. He just issued me a warning and let me go.

Since then, I've tried to be a bit more careful and don't really have anxiety/anger issues anymore and haven't been pulled over since...

Never once did I fail to comply with police orders... Never once did I take my hands out of plain sight and decide to reach for a weapon. Never once did I become belligerent towards police. Never once have I had police take any sort of physical action against me... Seems pretty simple to me...

LOL. Same thing happened to me. I told the cop I was struggling with opening a bag of potato chips.

THREAD STATUS UPDATE:

So far, only one lefty has come up with one name (that has questions surrounding it)...

According to Nordberg (who has yet to show his face in this thread, despite being personally quoted and linked to participate in this thread), this kind of thing happens all the time and has been shown to happen on a regular basis...

I'm just looking to compile a list of names where this sort of thing has occurred... instances where cops have (preferably instances where cops had no just cause to do so) abused black people over a simple traffic violation... Anyone can feel free to participate. :)

I bet that if nordy decides to show his face, he will claim that names have already been provided "somewhere", or that this topic was already disputed somewhere else. Either way, we know he won't be providing names. Even if he could come up with a couple names, he will naturally evade instead of looking for the names.

I'm even keeping the list of names at the bottom of my OP so that the list of names can be easily referenced... My OP should eventually be a super long post, given that the police force is "clearly" systemically racist and that Nordy has supposedly identified a huge problem that occurs quite regularly...

I'm on YOUR side, Nordy!!! I'd just like to get this massive list of names compiled so I can inform "Orange Man Bad" (or even Slow Joe, who is "obviously" going to win because the "truthful" and "meaningful" polling says that he is) about this horrendous issue that is plaguing blacks across America...

C'mon Nordy (or even anyone else who wishes to help him out) ... I am all ears...

Lefties (outside of one person) STILL have no names to add to this list... such a shame... :(

The lefty replies are a picture worth a thousand words. If they could provide names for the list, this thread would have been flooded with them. Lefties are telling us that their politics are worthless.

Lefties will post all kinds of crap on this thread, but they are not here to add any names like the opening post asks for. They will post pretty much ANYTHING besides what the opening post asks for.
