mandating a purchase, just like Obamacare. why all the outrage now????

And how much are healthcare costs compared to the cost of a gun?
It depends on whether you have a study that sets forth the cost of the police around the nation. My guess is the cost of your security is far more than you think.

This is sad, Damo. A pathetic attempt at equivalency, even for you.
What is sad is the incapacity for partisans to think even slightly when a point is being made on an intellectual level.

THAT is the pathetic attempt at false equivalency. try comparing police costs to healthcare costs, or insurance premiums to firearm costs.

The cost of a gun = the cost of police around the nation? I'm not talking about the cost of security, which is part of our social contract and already built into our taxation. I'm talking about the cost of a gun.

That wasn't even a subtle attempt to move the goalposts. That was a bulldozer.

The cost of a gun would be more equivalent to the cost of your insurance premiums. While the cost of the security would be more equivalent to healthcare as a whole. You tried to misapply them, I put it back into perspective.

Yeah, after you tried to (move the goalposts) equate a gun to the whole cost of healthcare you were bulldozed and I find it funny.

I'm enjoying this thread. It isn't difficult to find equivalencies and your obvious desperation to pretend they don't exist makes me smile.

I realize you guys are going to be stubborn about this false comparison, but the fact is that healthcare would not be an issue for the gov't if the lack of insurance didn't affect millions and didn't ruin families, and the cost of healthcare and insurance wasn't spiraling completely out of control.

There is no equivalency with a gun, which is more of a one-time purchase as opposed to something that needs to be paid for every time something goes wrong. There also is no equivalency whatsoever between the cost of a single gun as a one-time purchase, and the cost of an insurance plan that has to be renewed (not to mention the costs of the actual healthcare provided).

I mean - the whole premise is ridiculous. You really need to take a step back and look at what you're saying.

The fact that you're smiling about it might mean that you're insane. I mean that; your arguments & false equivaliencies are silly and obtuse.

LOL Do you even know what an intellectual exercise is? You really need to take a step back and stop being so intellectually "missing". You really are funny. Nobody is suggesting we actually make this a law.

While the cost of ammunition is much lower it is an ongoing cost, one you could equate to "pay for each use". While the cost is lower than your copayments, the cost exists.

you're in denial still. it's ok, we all know you were whipped.

LOL Do you even know what an intellectual exercise is? You really need to take a step back and stop being so intellectually dishonest.

You said it yourself. It exists at such an infinitessimal level that it's absurd to argue it as an equivalency.

And bringing up "intellectual dishonesty" is a hoot. Trying to compare the ongoing cost of bullets to the ongoing cost of insurance & healthcare. I mean, that's really amazing.

Care to make yourself look more foolish? I'm sure you will. I can't wait.

This is when I know I've beaten you in an argument Onceler... When you get to the point you are so frustrated you can't even hold the topic in a post and all I get are "obtuse" references.

You have attempted to crawfish your way out of it, but the reality is the equivalencies exist. That you are so afraid the arguments are so compelling that you believe somebody is actually using this to suggest we actually make this a law rather than an intellectual exercise is what really makes it frickin' funny.

The argument is compelling you to look a bit more at the ACA, in a different way that isn't as "pretty"... I'm sorry we made you uncomfortable by making you think.

This actually isn't even challenging. Some threads, I question my arguments at times, and meet some real intellect from opposing posters.

This thread was a strawman from the get-go. The fact that you & Damo are "sticking to your guns", as it were, is more entertaining than anything else.

moving the goal posts again. so the cost of something being different means the comparison is invalid?

LOL - and how about when you start saying I'm intellectually dishonest, and that my partisanship makes you smile, and that it's so frikkin' funny?

Look in the mirror, Damo. By your own parameters above, you've "been beaten" in almost every debate on this board. I'm sure I can find an "obtuse" or 12 out there under your name if I felt like searching.

How do you think police are paid for?
and why do you think towns/cities disband entire departments??? or tell the citizens that crime is going to skyrocket because they can't afford more cops????? more false equivalency from you..... you are really looking sad on this one.
