I disagree. Some who have moved near here are indeed good family people, better than a lot of 'citizens' born here are. They are complying by applying for asylum and have American sponsor. No gang tats, up and going to work every day, well mannered kids.
They can even have gang tats, as long as they enter the US legally.
BTW, in law, the asylee process differs from the refugee procedure.
Refugees meet the definition of a refugee; i.e. someone of special humanitarian concern to the United States.
Refugees are generally people outside of their country who are unable or unwilling to return home because they fear serious harm.
Refugees must seek a referral for refugee status from outside of the United States; for example at a US Consulate or US Embassy. They will be interviewed abroad by a United States Citizenship and Immigration (USCIS) officer who will determine whether the applicant is eligible for refugee resettlement in our country.
Asylum is a form of protection available to people who:
- Meet the definition of refugee, but
- Are already in the United States
- Are seeking admission through a designated port of entry
