Maybe Obama really isn't black enough?

Well, evidence is tough on this one, thus the "imo." I think it's a pretty solid conclusion, though.

If I ever get like SF on anything, let me know, so I can start figuring out the best & most painless way to kill myself...

awww... how sweet. You twits sure seem fixated on me. Ya know the best way to solve your problem lorax is just toss me on IA. Then you won't have to worry about my challenging your idiocy any more.... or at least you won't have to see it.

I watched the youtube clip, and the entire ad is in darker tones. Which is a standard political tactic, for a "negative" ad, to add an aura of danger (aka, the "wolves" commercial in 2004) . I don't see any clear evidence of race baiting. Even Hillary's skin tone is a tad darker from her normal pasty white.

...though I will say oncelear, that the whole "vote for me or your gonna die" subcontext, is appalling.

Well you know, that just shows that Hillary is practically a Republican. All that terror BS. I am so tired of it and I will vote for no one who harps on that crap. You know, if you start googling stats on how many Americans die every year in car accidents, from heart disease (huge), from lack of insurance, from hospital error, from various forms of cancer, from workplace accidents…you will just die laughing at any fool who is sitting around biting their nails over terrorists.

You’re going to die. And trust me, it won’t be in a terrorist attack.

Your totally right about all that. I'm so sick of the bed wetters and diaper poopers and the fear mongers.

Possibly the most overblown fear in modern history...

Really?

How much have we spent on SARS?

How many elections have been determined by SARS?

My point is that, while terrorism has been politicised, people have ACTUALLY died and suffered due to terrorism, both on the national and international level. Terrorism is an issue that actually DOES matter, albeit not as much as the Bush administration would like us to believe.

Things like SARS and Avian flu etc., however, are "threats" that get media coverage but do not ever actually affect our lives.

Yeah, but aside from a week's worth of headlines, there really isn't much there.

And the odds for a global pandemic in the next century actually are pretty decent.

Terrorism & the fear of it has changed everything in this country, and completely skewed our priorities...

It is hard to measure how much of the terrorism scare is legitimate and how much is hype, however. On one hand, if terrorist attacks happened in the US every day we could be sure that there was a clear threat but would be faced with the fact that our government was doing nothing to stop it; on the other hand, the lack of terrorist attacks leaves it unclear as to whether or not there is a legitimate threat or our government is just doing a good job (for once).

It's painfully over-hyped. Yes, they have thwarted some plots. But the way they talk, OBL had a whole slew of plans for attack after 9/11. The truth is, 9/11 took him about 10 years to plan, and only came together from a series of unlikely occurrences, and "lucky" breaks (from his perspective, not ours).

Terrorism is something that we should have resources devoted to, and always be aware of. It is not the overwhelming, constant threat that the government leads us to believe it is, and the #'s certainly don't match up to the perception, as Darla pointed out.

So because it doesn't kill as many people as heart disease, it should never be discussed?

I guess there are acceptable terrorist-caused deaths?

Who said "should never be discussed?" What a buffoon.

I said it's over-hyped, not that is should "never be discussed."

And you are right, it did take OBL ten years to plan--- but the result was the equivalent of him killing an American once a day for ten years.
