minnesota statewide smoking ban

even the people who dont drench them selves in it, affect me..

il get the reactions before i even smell it. drives me crazy, usaly if i get a wiff of it i can get out of there before it affects me too much. if not i am usaly missirable for quite a while.

I just did a quick check in the NLM archives and found 253 original research articles specifically on perfume allergy/sensitivity going back to 1975. The pace of this research has picked up recently and the majority of studies were published within the past couple of years.

There's an ingredient that you're sensitive to, and so am I. I'll bet you also find yourself sort of confused, can't concentrate, etc., before the really bad headache kicks in.

These symptoms are quite similar to those for "sick building syndrome"; those are attributed mainly to black mold; wicked stuff. Somebody here is doing quite a lot of research on that.

I've found that once I remove myself from the source I start to feel a lot better. That's how I could be sure what the cause was.
Same as you, though, it doesn't take much.

I will do a little searching for you..........

Care to back that up with a link?

since you are too lazy to do your own homework..however we live in a world wide society that is based on majority rules...not the minority...I am a compassionate guy...but I will be damned if I will stop living to cater to a minorities whims and desires...10% of the general population give or take a few points have 'Special Needs' .This applies to homosexuals, reactionary physical as well as psychosymatic reactions to everyday life! I agree to special privileges and compensation to those with physical handicaps such as mylopothy, missing or non-working arms and leggs, blindness, hearing impairment etc...but if it is for superficial reasons... just being annoyed or wanting equal privileges such as marriage rights or not allowing people of the majority to enjoy their chosen way of life, to cater to the whims of the minority I say bite me...how plain/blunt can that be?

I will do a little google search so you will feel the desired need to see it in print...maybe not tonight, but tomorrow for sure if you persist with this!

Uh, huh. Read my post. I went to the National Library of Medicine, which is an arm of the National Institutes of Health. Perfume allergy/toxicity is a valid medical condition, and has been recognized in the medical world for more than thirty years. To further validate that, hospitals recognize the effect that scents have on patients and more and more have banned scents. Given that these are health care institutions, this is reasonable.

Nobody here is asking for special privileges for perfume allergies. Obviously you've misread this in bob's and my posts. We've both said that we simply avoid those situations where we're likely to encounter perfumes. Neither of us is trying to limit anything other people do.

Right...you two fall in.........

The 10% category...but you went on a tirade about your work environment not wanting your fellow employees to enjoy perfume or smoke or whatever else annoyed you...do you see the the gist here?

the poorly insulated apt queen...lmao@LadyT!

ps: Thorn knows I am correct about the 10% equation that was the gist of the comment...back to playing with your lib buddies with you!

side note:numerous studies were made on hypersensitivity to everyday chemicals...the studies range between 2% and 37% of the population being effected...with only some 1.8% leaving their jobs because of it!

Same here, and this is happening more and more often. There are hospitals that ban any sort of scented products (Sinai in NY was the first, I think). Few if any health care professionals are allowed to wear any sort of scented products because of the negative effects on so many patients.

I simply avoid situations where I am likely to encounter scents. It can be awkward, and limiting, but it's my only recourse.
However, nobody suggests a law. I wonder why?
