More evidence of Virginia's blueness...

and how does that work if the government outguns us?

One individual, n o matter how well armed, or one small group of individuals, is not going to stand against the US government. Look at how they rolled over the military forces of Iraq like they were a high school marching band. You really think a southern militia is going to stand up against the US marines?

I did not say it has happened, i've said it wouldn't because of partisanship. I know about Hastings, which further proves my point about partisanship denying constitutional limits and safeguards.

Tell me of a case where an Article III judge should have been impeached and was not.

so we DO have mob rule, despite what you said about the protections we do not. that's all you had to say.

We have a hy-bred system that includes an element of mob rule, there are protections from it, but no guarantee they will work. Its not a perfect system, only one designed to diffuse the harshness of mob rule.

The idea that some rag tag group of Americans is going to stand up to the U.S. Military is hog wash. At best, in such a situation, we could mount a small insurgency that would make things difficult for the military, but not defeat them. I don't think it would ever come to that again, but I guess it could.

apparently the people can't think or make decisions themselves without clearance from the democrat party.

Who would that be, Republicans seem to walk in lockstep with their party more than do Democrats, Independents and Libertarians.

The Republicans have once again decided to make abortion their central theme for this cycle and not jobs, the economy, or the infrastructure. I think moderates are tired of this strategy. I think it will do them a great deal of harm.

From your perspective....just the opposite from the other perspective.

And then we have the other element.....rule by an individuals decree.....notice that anywhere today?.....like legislating from the oval office perhaps ?

As I've said before, in this very thread, if you are going to protect a document, you need to have an understanding of what it says and means. Unless you think the intent of that oath means that the AG should stand guard at the national archives with a gun protecting the actual pieces of parchment.

As a student of history I can tell you that its been done since George Washington and in certain areas the authority to do so was the clear intent of the founders who created the office of a strong chief executive.

so the founders idea of fearing a standing army is dead. we should accept new limits on our rights to maintain our freedom because they already are?

Technology has changed, sure there is still danger from a standing army, but almost 250 years of history without a military coup, and the entire world watching the fear is less.

It does not matter much anyway, how could individuals compare to the might that is the United States military?
