How long they will be there
What they will be doing
How success in their mission will be measured
Or any other specifics related to their deployment

Just exactly like every other of his endeavors as President, he is totally uninterested and oblivious of the details. He'll know when he sees it on TV.

Obama fought a schizophrenic war..no real goals,and undermined battlefield autonomy.
we are now letting the military target terrorists networks as well.
The more autonomy -the better US forces perform

I have always said the SOFA was a hard date and if we stayed al-Maliki would have been under pressure
from al Sadr to prosecute "US war crimes".

Not that Obama wanted to stay or try to negotiate an extension - but yes he had to pull out

The female general was stupid to put a female guard in that position. Her presence was the trigger and motivation for the awful behavior. But in no way, did they have complete autonomy. They acted illegally.

The problem here is that terrorists are "globalists" too in the sense that they have no "nation". They're like spiders crawling all over the place. They nest where they will and then procreate. This isn't like WWll with specific national armies to fight against, win, surrender docs are signed and help rebuild. This is an ideological religious bunch who connect and communicate with each other all over the world using technology and internet to specifically get as little as just 1 person to drive a truck through innocent civilians outside having lunch at a café or having a Sunday stroll across a bridge, etc. Cooperation of 'civilized' countries is needed to fight a common enemy.
