MY Newest Weed Eater!

Darn. Can't see 300 yds in any direction here. I did use my old 8MM Mauser Kraut rifle on a couple last year though.

I have a couple of pastures that I hunt coyote in. I have a remote call that I setup 75 to 100 yards out. I shoot from the prone position under some camo. Bipod keeps it nice & steady.

Most I have shot have been closer by far.

8mm Mauser? Cool old guns.

Yeah my grandfather got the 8mm for $5 I think after WW2. Still a good gun.

Does not kick any worse than a 7mm mag hotloaded though.

Its a good rifle. Mauser made some of the finest actions in the world. Many of the best rifle makers still copy it. In fact, a quality custom rifle often starts with a Mauser action.

Yeah, I am not as fond of the 7 mag as many people. I have mine because it was a great bargain when I went looking to buy a deer rifle. I bought a slightly used Remington 700 in 7 mag with a 3x9x40mm Bushnell scope and 8 boxes of ammo for $225.

I don't recognize it offhand, but I'll look at my books tomorrow. BTW, its not a venomous snake. The shape of the head is the clue. In north america only the coral snake does not have the arrowhead shaped head and is venomous. This looks like a corn snake or rat snake of some variety. But not sure at all.

As far as the turkeys go, it makes no sense that they won't let hunters shoot the hens, when they are no longer endangered at all. In fact, in many areas they are pests.

care , for some reason I can't get the snake picture to come up. sorry.
On the turkeys they are everywhere here, and you can hunt em too. They deviled me bigtime in my garden till up put up an electric fence. Quite a fuss when they get into that :D

Most of them have learned and won't even get close now.

I also found where it looked like a groundhog had gotten into it and dug up dirt getting away. sorry I missed the show. Just hope no skunks get into it.

Ahem. Hawaii has zero snakes whatsoever. So now everything you've ever said is invalid.

I do Green Chile. Or I put them in a rice with Cajun Sausage (can't do andouille as it has potatoes and I am allergic, plus andouille is cut down in spice because of the potato.) and a few other more secret ingredients...

*sigh*

Unfortunately my cholesterol is too high to indulge myself...

Drive thru small town to Bar Harbor Hotel/ Acadia National park! a nature walk around a pond in the park...

That picture of Jordan Pond with the two rounded top mountains on the horizon is always an awesome picture. I'm taking my soon to be wife on a honeymoon in Maine in the first week of October.

Day one Old Orchard Beach
Day 2-3 Boothbay Harbor
Day 4-5 Rockland, Rockport, Camden
Day 6-7 Mount Desert Island

I've been to Boothbay, some cool shops, but only been thru Camden and Rockport.

Old Orchard was nice in the summer months but I'm just looking for the first night to have a stroll along the beach looking for Sand Dollars and enjoying the ocean breeze. It'll be chilly, but Old Orchard was more 'for the kids' when I visited there. It has a few shops and a pier, but the tide there was the most memorable thing. Watching the beach grow about half a mile (well, it seemed that way) out was very cool.

The rocky coast offers a ton of tide pools to discover sea life at your fingertips. It will be fun to pick up crabs and watch the wife squirm as she trys to catch one. The Lobster Dinners with a bottle of Wine will be great as well. I can't wait!

I'll contact you later this year when it gets closer to the time we are heading up there. I could always use a few tips from a local on what to do :)
