NAACP member racist comments

This whole bit of 'You're a racist," "No, you are a racist..." has way worn out its welcome for me. I know that it's just beginning though. Obama's presidency has not lessened, but increased the racial divide in this country.

Simple enough for me to understand why 95% of the blacks that voted in 2008 voted for him. I doubt the Irish Catholic vote was much different for JFK in 1960. That doesn't mean that 95% of blacks agree with all he does, though many paranoid 'white folk' seem to see it that way.

OTOH there are all these 'groups' that are trying to blame 'the man', (who now looks more like them than ever before) on all their ills. It's simply time for those that agree with mores join together whether as liberals, conservatives, libertarians, greens, regardless of skin color. Time too to stop with the excuses.

I absolutely agree. The point to be made is more about the hypocrisy of a group pointing their politically connected fingers and yelling "racist" all the while having a bit of that kind of stuff in their very own organization.

I'd like to hear the entire speech, was there a point further on? She was talking about something from 2 decades ago, it may be that she was making an entirely different point.

Her point is bit irrelevent when her admission was that she used her power to deny and or subvert aid based on the color of the mans skin.

She was referring to something that happened 2 decades ago, but she was discussing this in March of this year. I too would like to see the entire video, if it hasn't already been released. What concerns me more, IF she was planning on clarifying that her actions of 24 years ago were wrong, why did she not correct the audience when they were applauding her? Why did she resign, if somehow this whole brouhaha was out of context?

If not for the hammering attacks of racism on the tea parties, I don't think this would have been an issue at all. Indeed, seems the only reason the NAACP released what they have is due to their own 'resolution' of last week.

Again, was she relating a story where she learned that "race" was not the issue? I'd like to hear the whole speech rather than this chunk taken out of context. At least the entire story, where did it go?

I agree, that's bad stuff... but so is getting a DUI and snorting coke as a twenty-something, but that didn't stop somebody from becoming President, people can turn a life around.

True that. I don't know. I just don't like making judgment by out of context video clips, I dislike when it happens to people I agree with, I dislike finding out that I was wrong later because I hadn't heard the whole thing....

I'd like the whole story, then make a judgment on what I was hearing. I have a hard time thinking she could have turned that story into something that smelled good, but maybe...

:dunno:

But she worked at the time for an organization that existed to help out black farmers and, in fact, she helped the white farmer avoid foreclosure and keep his farm. Read the article. The white farmer's wife is quoted in it.

And this was Sherrod's point:

"And I went on to work with many more white farmers," she said. "The story helped me realize that race is not the issue, it's about the people who have and the people who don't. When I speak to groups, I try to speak about getting beyond the issue of race."

You can try to paint this as a racist black woman working to deny aid to white people, but I don't see that as a reasonable conclusion.

Yes people can turn their lives around, and if she has great! Using your position of power however to deny a person aid based on the color of their skin (her own admission) is Quite a bit more odious than having snorted coke or having been stupid enough to drive while drinking 25 years ago.

lol...poor nigel, always on the wrong side of history and events...even the head of the naacp says you're wrong

NAACP CEO Ben Jealous was also quick to condemn Sherrod's actions, though. In a statement Monday posted on Breitbart's Big Government site, he said:

Her actions were shameful. While she went on to explain in the story that she ultimately realized her mistake, as well as the common predicament of working people of all races, she gave no indication she had attempted to right the wrong she had done to this man.

apparently nothing is too far beneath nigel to apologize for...

Damo believes in discrimination against white men, or at least that they should not be added to the list of protected identities.

Which is why she was asked for her resignation, and gave it.

If you actually read his statement, it's clear that he assumed that her actions occurred recently while she worked at the USDA. That's not the case. If his assumption was correct, I would agree with him.

lmao...as if they would make it ok...he clearly condemns her action, he merely got the agency wrong and he said nothing about time frame...

i can't believe you are so silly as to think time would make this better....her actions, according to him, are shameful because she had POWER to help him and because the usda has discriminated and her discrimination is even more shameful because of this as she knew about the discrimination....

you have the most dishonest viewpoints of anyone i know

And yet, no harm by those on the left saying that tea party folks yelled N***** without any video at all? Not one problem in condemning the whole from possible actions of a few, even when such actions aren't proven.

And so we reap the whirlwind.

Hi. I'm damo. I need more info before i can acknowledge the nose on my stupid face! :^)
Can you in fact provide any evidence whatsoever that I even have a stupid face?

Yes, I like to have information before making judgment. How did the story end?

She also didn't say that she thought he was trying to be superior, AT THAT TIME; but then realized that it was her own bias that made her feel that way.

Then why didn't she correct them, when the were clapping over her comment of him trying to be superior to her?? :palm:
