Yeah, but that's not desensitising people to violence. That's hiding an aspect of the war.
 
And using SF's logic if Nuclear power cannot be made perfectly safe we should do nothing to try and make it less dangerous.
Damn that lead shielding, just put the nuke waste in the rivers, etc.

I think that it's you who does not know what you're saying, because government leaders will tell you that cops carry guns to defend themselves, not to kill people. it's usually only cops who are in trouble that will tell you that guns are for them to kill people.
 
For those who may not know me.
I have quite a few guns.
I have a CC permit.
I have a .45 auto and 3 mags in a holster attatched to my power chair right now.
I have killed before and hope to never kill again, but will in defense of myself or loved ones.

I do not belong to the NRA now. I did many years ago before it became an arm of the republican party.
I DO realize that Guns exist because they are designed to kill.
I also realize that they do not have to always kill people.
The difference is that I realize that gun controls are needed and do work to a large extent to reduce needless deaths by misuse of firearms.

I think that gun nuts are mentally sick.
The fact that zombie certified killing ammunition exists is proof.
People who like to play soldier with real weapons....
Get paintball guns fools.
Now they are fun!

Except there is a slew of evidence to suggest that regulations on nuclear energy do make it safer. With guns...no, there is no evidence to suggest that stricter gun control leads to less crime.

Guns are not meant for people to go around shooting innocent people. People choose to misuse them for that purpose. The point I am making is that you are not going to stop such events by going on a banning spree. You and many others continually ignore that it takes less than a couple seconds to change clips.

I didn't say all or nothing, I pointed out that it was a slippery slope where you and your ilk would assure us you just want 'assault rifles' and clips over ten rounds banned. Then when you find out that does nothing, you will then come and tell us you only want clips over 6 rounds or whatever... it won't stop.

You are taking out your emotional response on an inanimate object. You ignore the fact that the object can easily be replaced by another equally destructive object.

Do you know how long it takes to change a clip?
 
What's really sick about what has happened to the NRA is that they were once a great organization. I was once a member of the NRA. I took my required fire arm safety course from a local NRA affiliate when I got my hunting license at 15. I joined the NRA when I joined a local gun n rod club when I was 18. Helped out on a number of conservation projects and built networks with other outdoor sporstmen through the NRA. Things started to change in the late 70's when a very well organized group of right wing extremist took over the board of directors of the NRA in only what could be described as a hostile take over. Prior to that the NRA was very much a hunters advocacy and conservation group like Ducks Unlimited. Now they are the zero tolerence 2nd ammendment fanatics and right wing shills for the Republcian party. Many of us who quit the NRA in disgust (Including President George H. W. Bush) over their extremism have joined organizations, like Ducks Unlimited, that are what the NRA used to be like before they decided to become a bunch of out of touch wacko fanatics.
