reality sucks and most people do not want to see reality, or the consequences of life maiming/killing actions
however, to get the whole weapons thing correct, far more people are killed by handguns than rifles (including assault rifles)
the type of ammunition used makes a difference too. if the person that shot giffords had used hollow point ammunition, she and more of the people he shot (with a handgun) would have died, but he used high power penetrating ammunition rather than lower velocity hollow point ammunition and in so doing actually killed fewer of the people he shot because that type of ammunition penetrates and exits rather than transferring the entire power of the bullet to the body
as for firearms and the nra, most children are killed by means other than firearms...as are wives
i do agree that pictures of killed and maimed fellow citizens, spouses and children should be published along with the method used to do the killing and maiming
see if you can get pictures of abused children (sexually, beaten, starved, burned, etc.) or battered spouses and children to publish, all done without firearms
in the month (jan) that the newtown massacre occurred, 50 people were killed in chicago alone, by handguns
you also forgot about pictures of people maimed and killed by knives or any other household object that comes to hand when someone is enraged
the real issue is mental health and the lack of it
i rate expert with rifles and handguns and at age 67 have yet to use one on a person (except during a war as a civilian who was in the wrong place at the wrong time) (i started shooting at age 6, taught by an nra firearms instructor, not only for accuracy, but also safety)
so before you come down on the 2nd amendment, consider all of the ways that people can kill other people without a firearm
ps i totally support the do not sell firearms or ammunition list, it needs to be a lot more effective than it is now

You need to know my position before spouting off. I am a very strong supporter of increased programs for the mentally ill. I also don't mind if you keep your stupid guns. I don't think it is necessary for people to own military style weapons, but I think other measures, such as background checks, regulated ammunition sales and restricted private sales will do more good then gun restrictions.
I tease both Grind and Billy and poke fun at their positions because they are youngins and it is fun to watch them get all worked up.

I think guns are stupid. Your opinion of guns and what you do with them is your business. I dance and sing or play with children for my Zen, each to his own, and my own is, I think guns aren't necessary for me.

i too would like to dance and play with children, however, i am partially disabled (limited mobility) and am unable to do so
however, i can sit at a table to help support my firearms - also, since my thyroidectomy, i do not sing or talk very well

And yet they are still more dangerous than the guns. You are in far more danger in your car than at any moment that somebody with concealed carry enters a store you are shopping in...
If it was to "just save one life" as some are saying, then it would be far more reasonable to start limiting pools than guns.
Then why do you need a gun? You have hammers, swimming pools and cars! Someone breaks into your home, hit him with a hammer, run over them with your car and throw them in the pool!
Too much work. It would be easier to just shoot him.
