Netherlands Bans Magic Mushrooms :(

The usual pattern of heroin addiction and death is that someone will keep on upping the dose more and more until they do actually take a poisonous dose.

I only use the word "poison" to describe a dosage of a specific substance that will result in immediate damage or death.

You might, but the rest of the English speaking world doesn't...

Get with the program...

1. A substance that causes injury, illness, or death, especially by chemical means.

And this would really depend upon the dosage and frequency of taking the drug, wouldn't it? Also, under this definition, mushrooms wouldn't be a drug, being that they don't cause injury, illness, or death (unless you happen to jump off a roof or something ;) ).

Mushrooms produce illness. I often hurl up before I come up...

Try killing yourself with weed. I've seen plenty of people whitey and get sick.

A poison doesn't have to be a deadly poison, else the term deadly poison wouldn't have been created.

Some poisons have pleasant effects. Like this spliff....

How do mushrooms make you ill?

bnormal conditions of the body or mind that cause discomfort, dysfunction, or distress to the person afflicted or those in contact with the person can be deemed an illness.

Mushrooms don't cause discomfort or distress. :dunno:

You don't get mind dysfunctions when you take mushrooms? You are taking magic ones aren't you?

Interesting how you cut that off there, right before my actual argument was presented. Let me try this on you:

You don't get mind dysfunctions when you take mushrooms

Using the word "poison" to describe a harmless mind altering substance is, 90% of the time, nothing more than a scare tactic.

WM I'm as big a fan of mushrooms as you, but whatever we feel about them, what happens to your mind is a mild poisoning. A nice mild poisoning. Poisoning doesn't equate to death. Lethal poison does.
