Neuroscientist loses a 25-year bet on consciousness — to a philosopher

No. It’s the end. Your brain does the work to create a thought like “I’m thirsty” based on the current state of your body. Your brain then pushes that thought into consciousness where you become aware of it. The thought existence before you consciously experienced it.
To think is to be conscious. There is no distinction.

There is our disagreement.
I magically had a thought that apparently existed before I thought it that Hume is a very patient person to keep trying to convince moon that are thoughts are not random impulses we have to control over. Example - @moon said: 'I had the thought to run to the toilet before I knew I had to shit, I had no control over that thought. I know this because yesterday I shit my pants for no apparent reason. I guess the thought to go sit on the toilet wasn't already there' LOL

You have a thought, which you didn’t control or create, that sometimes leads to subsequent thoughts that you don’t control or create.
I have never had that experience. Nor has any philosopher or neuroscientist stated your position. It sounds like severe mental illness.

I was laughing so hard when I wrote that, I made a couple typos. I wasn't thinking. lol * 'are' should be 'our' and * 'to' should be 'no'

I'm not sure if I was thinking about the mistakes or the thoughts were already there to screw up. hmmmm

WOW are my thoughts all screwed up. I also messed up the name. lol I don't know if it was premeditated or not anymore. Anyways, my apologies to @moon , I guess your avatars are similar, so I either thought it was you in the argument all along, or the thought was already there. Anyways,z it was meant for @ZenMode not you Moon.

Liar and unbalanced moron ^

Like I said, pay close attention to how thinking occurs. Do you find yourself able to know thoughts before you think them or are thoughts just constantly appearing in consciousness? In fact, if you pay attention, you'll realize that a) not only are you not consciously creating them, you can't stop them and b) they often aren't even relevant to what you're doing and are actually distracting. So, you're working on something and suddenly think "Did I close the garage door" or "I have a doctor's appointment next Tuesday" or "I need to lose weight".

That is your opinion which you had a control over.
Correct. I've read and listened to things that have convinced me that it's true. Being convinced by an argument, which determines future thoughts, is also out of our control. So, I can't not know and believe that 2+2 is 4.
