You understanding of history is as weak as your knowledge of seemingly everything else, the Democrats that favored slavery over a century and half ago were CONSERVATIVE Democrats, SOUTHERN CONSERVATIVE Democrats to be specific, who today make up a large segment of the current GOP, or are you going to tell us now the Radical Republicans were referred to as such cause they were Conservative

I liked the old days when Republicans opposed excessive government regulations. Trying to destroy political opposition is moving into the authoritarian category. Florida Republicans already are limiting local control and made laws against teaching subjects that might hurt somebody's feelings, prohibited professors from presenting expert testimony before hearings on legislation opposed by the state, prohibited cruise lines from requiring vaccinations even when required by the destination country.

So much for Republican principles of limited government and liberty.
